I am very sorry that you are having such a rough time! Hopefully you can enjoy Christmas nevertheless! Getting money or a job scrapped at this time of the year is ever so gutting!
Sorry for not having been on much lately myself; between clearing MIL's house, the interment of her ashes and paperwork complications, a much stronger than normal SAD syndrome and lastly flu for the last 4 days, I can't wait for this year to be over!

The behaviour is totally normal for guinea pigs; they need to establish a hierarchy in a new group/new territory. You can help by providing two hideys/sleeping corners (a towel pegged to the bars is enough) and two food bowls. If you can eventually provide more space that would be great - you will love the difference it makes!

Hi and welcome!
Good that you are doing your research first!
Trios are the combination that is most prone to outsider problems; you need exactly the right mix of characters.
Trios of baby boars very rarely make it through the hormonal months to adulthood without fall-outs; quartets of boars are even less stable. If you'd rather have boars (who are often more laid back and cuddly), I would opt for two pairs, which you can keep on top of each other if space is an issue.

I usually bake lots of biscuits at this time of the year, but neither hub or I are in the mood for it after my MIL's recent passing. We are in the middle of sorting through her house and still have the interment of her ashes to face next week. Not the time for Christmas cheer...
But we are both looking forward to spending Christmas/New Year with my family in Switzerland; that will hopefully see us through the most difficult days. It will be our first holiday this year!

Best of luck with your vet visit. Unfortunately, it sounds like a classic case of ringworm - very widely spread in stressed out shop piggies! You can reclaim the vet cost from your pet shop. It is the only way to get them to clean up their act! www.guinealynx.info/fungus.htmlgorgeousguineas.com/indentification.htmlgorgeousguineas.com/photogallery.htmlPlease be aware that ringworm is highly contagious and can spread to other pets and humans. You need an antifungal disinfectant (the normal ones only kill bacteria) and use extra hygiene. Please be aware that you can spread ringworm through your clothing, too. Any fabric needs to be washed at a minimum of 60 C. You will find that things get worse before they get better, as the affected hair/hair roots of the surrounding area need come out first before the patch can heal off.

I love piggies with a crest (short or longhaired), but I have quite a few others, too!

Yesterday evening I collected a 4 year old sow with fully developed cataracts in urgent need of a sanctuary space. Mali (former Nala) will hopefully join my Troop with 5 year old Bryn Oscar and his three girls who are all used to living with cataract sows. Mali has recently lost her (blind) companion. She was part of a Piggy Bank rescue support network transport from Yorkshire in relief of a full rescue whose owner had an accident and is struggling to keep up with the current influx of so many, often pregnant piggies in urgent need of tlc and medical care. Mali will be carefully introduced to her neighbours when she has recovered from her long trip and is ready for them; she may well take longer as she is feeling more vulnerable due to her blindness, which often leads piggies to react more aggressively. Sharing dinner with her future pals through the bars Having a nap in the hay Mail is a very gentle, friendly girl; a beloved ex-pet, who seems to be quite happy to be back in a loving home again.

Hi and welcome!
Your piggies are all very cute indeed.
3piggles has already given you the detailed pregnancy/birth/baby and mummy care guide that I have written for the wheekerpedia. It should cover most of the questions that you may have, but please feel free to ask any more. We would be grateful, if you kept all pregnancy questions to one thread in the care section.

Hi and welcome!
Waffles is very cute! I am glad that you are going to make him a bigger cage. It is a pity that you are so short on space because guinea pigs are are herd animals and should ideally have company of their own kind.
PS: I don't know what happened with your username; I have to leave that to a more technically experienced mod.

Check whether the root is still firm; in that case the tooth should regrow within 1-2 weeks without problems. Otherwise you may need to see a vet. Please weigh him daily during that time. www.guinealynx.info/teeth_broken.htmlTake the dish out if it gets on your nerves, otherwise, leave it.

You may see a renewal of the dominance (especially as #2 may not like to give up her top slot), but hopefully they will settle down again well.
Please let them meet in a neutral spot like the bathroom or kitchen floor, or the bathtub first; that puts everypig on an even footing. Makke sure that you give your girls a day or two at least to settle down together before moving them to your friend.

I am sorry that the all-too-human side is now emerging. But I am very glad that your have all survived such a storm with comparatively minor loss of life in view if its size and the amount of destruction it has wreaked!
