Its not the travel cage I wanted, but for $10 I couldn't pass it up. I put it on the floor with the boys this morning while I had them out. They enjoyed playing in it. Next, we will go on a few short car rides to get them used to it before our BIG adventure.

I put a pad, some hay and a section of cucumber inside, and the pigs are fine on short trips.

I am grief stricken as I write this. My Charlie is dead! He was a little snotty in the nose yesterday. I planned to make him an appt. tomorrow. He was eating and playing and seemed normal otherwise. I went home over lunch and he was gone....

My Charlie has died, leaving Henry all alone. :-(
This is so sad to me on so many levels. I just can't begin to describe it.
I cannot get a friend for Henry, not now. How can I keep him happy? He's never been alone. Charlie and Henry were the best of friends.
I need all of you to help me help Henry! Please and Thank You all so much.

Of Faafaa, I am so sorry I had that happen to me while one of my boys was being boarded at the vets. I was in Florida, and couldn't even get home to see him. Chances are the runny nose wasn't the cause, and he had another problem you couldn't see. I know that doesn't make the loss any easier, but you can't blame yourself for what they never let us see. So many hugs

So sorry faafaa, it's horrible when it happens so suddenly :-( but when they start showing signs of an illness it is probably already quite developed. Your other little boy will be missing his brother so just give him plenty of attention and cuddles which will probably comfort you at the same time. He will get used to it then when your ready you can think about a new friend for him which like you said will not be soon. Thinking of you and sending hugs your way xxx

Thank you glitz. Once we make our move this summer we will probably find a new friend for Henry. There are 2 rescues where we are going. I have been keeping a close eye on Henry. We are off to the vet at the first sign that there's something off!

Henry seems to be OK so far. He's eating and zooming around. He seems to be enjoying the extra cuddles. I disinfected the cage last night and put in new bedding and rearranged it a bit. I also gave Henry a bath. In my head I feel like it will make the adjustment to a solo piggy easier. Charlie was the dominant one. Henry seems very relaxed.
Does anyone know how Henry processes this? Does he even care? He doesn't seem to. I guess I expected a bit of a grieving process for him.
I think he enjoys not having to share his pellets or veggies. I gave him a paper bag last night, that's his favorite toy.

Snapped a few pictures of Henry. Unfortunately I did it before cleaning up the cage.

I am so sorry Lots of hugs to you and Henry ♡♡♡ If Charlie died in the shared cage, Henry understands that his friend is gone. If he is popcorning snd zooming, he is working through it and trying to have a positive life alone. He will get lonely, though. He is used to sharing life with a piggy friend. You might want to wait until you get to San Diego, can't remember how far in the future that is. You might also decide to get him a new friend to travel with to San Diego. Up to you, but Wer Companions is a super rescue. Definitely get Henry checked by the vet to make sure he's healthy. He may react when you clean the cage are remove Charlies scent. Then Henry has to face being alone. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Oh sweetie, this is always a tough one. It si always best to let them know when a friend has gone, when I lost Binky a few weeks ago, I showed him to Holly so that she knew. I am pleased to hear that he is happily popcorning and eating, those are very good signs. Please let us know how he gets on and once agaii hun, I am so sorry for your sudden loss of Charlie, we all understand how devastated you are.
Hugs Jo xx
