I'm so relieved to hear that Squeekie has shown some interest in food, even if it comes and goes. Keep it up Squeekie. Everyone here is rooting for you. x

Sorry I haven't posted about my Squeekie for a few days. I've just been so upset as I'm afraid Squeekie has been very poorly over Easter. Squeekie has stopped pooping.
I was just wishing Easter away so I could get Squeekie to see his vet today, those 4 days seemed like 4 months. Everytime I went to bed for a few hours(sleeping inbetween giving him fluids and a little CC) I talked to Squeekie as though it was the last time as I really thought he wasn't going to get through the next few hours, its an awful feeling and as you can imagine its been heartbreaking seeing him so poorly.
In all honesty I thought this morning would be Squeekie's last journey to the vets, not that I was giving up on him but just didn't want him to suffer and just wanted what was best for Squeekie. I was holding him close all the way to the vets in his cozy. Aidan said more treatment was definatly worth a try and decided to try a couple of different meds as well as the Maxolon. His tum isn't bloated because of gas, its just full because hes not passing poop but he is passing urine. Hes now on prepulsid and Zantac syrup. If he hasn't passed anything by morning then Aidan wants to do an x-ray to see if there is a blockage. Hes off the antbiotic as his tum is the priority.
My biggest concern was overfilling his tum until he passes something but Aiden said a guinea pigs tum can hold alot plus eating might stimulate his digestive system.
Squeekie can relax on me, we've watched so many films together so I hope hes not in too much discomfort. Squeekie's will to live is just so heartwarming, he still pops his head out when he knows veg is coming and will even have a few nibbles. I had him out on the lawn a few times and he had a few nibbles, not much but the fact that he at least wants to try abit hopefully means hes not in any major discomfort.
Beatrix keeps sleeping along side Squeekie which is so lovely to see.
Thanks so much for all your support.

Jackie I am so sorry to hear of all the upset you have had over Easter. I wish some of us lived closer so we could be there to help.
I hope the new meds start to make Squeekie more comfortable. xx

I'm sorry you've had such a worrying weekend with Squeekie, Jackie. It's so tough when it's holiday season and you have to wait that extra bit of time. I hope that the new meds do the trick and get his tum working again. It sounds like Squeekie has been in good spirits considering all that's going on with him, and that he's enjoying all the extra cuddles and pampering from you xxx

I'm afraid the medicines haven't worked for my dear Squeekie. So I'm taking him back to his vets this morning.

Oh I am sorry Jackie, I was really hoping those meds would do the trick and the vet visit and xray wouldn't be needed today. Lots of luck for the vets, I'll keep everything crossed for Squeekie xxx

I'm so upset to let you know that my dear Squeekie was pts at dinner time. It was such a hard decision as you can imagine but I know in my heart it was the right one for Squeekie. If there had been a blockage, his chance of coming through an operation like that would have been very slim and I just didn't want to put him through such a large operation. Squeekie looked so relaxed while I was holding him and kissing him on the way to the vets. I just know that throughout Squeekie's illness, for him to want to try and eat, however small and the way he relaxed for the all the many hours I was holding and comforting him, I know any discomfort he may have felt was minimal. I know Beatrix is missing her wonderful Squeekie, but I'll be making sure she gets even more cuddles from her Mummy. I have made a tribute thread for my dear Squeekie in the Memorial Garden. I hope I've done justice to my gorgeous boy xx Thank you so much for your continued support in my piggies thread. wheekers.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=memorial&thread=9592

Jackie, I've just read the memorial thread and have to say of course you did him justice. Every action you take did him justice and he, and everyone else, knows how much you adored him. He was such a gentleman and will be so sadly missed.
I'm so sorry you had to face this. Thinking of you. xxx

Oh Jackie.. It's the news we all hoped we wouldn't hear.
Nothing I can say right now that will stop you feeling heartbroken for your little man I am sure but I am certain I speak for everyone here when I say that you did everything you could to help Squeekie and it was the best decision to let him go with some dignity before he became too weak.
I will miss hearing all about him. Hugs to Beatrix and to you xx
