Built a temp cage on the living room floor, put the girls in with a pile of hay, a towel covering that, the food bowls and water bottle, and put the HMS Piggy Wiggy in the uncovered part of the cage. They made themselves right at home. I did part of my walk around them, saying "Mommy's walking," as I do when I pass Pigloo City, and they just went about their business. They didn't even miss a beat having dinner not next to us at the table. It's so nice when they finally reach the point of knowing we're not going to hurt them when we pick them up, walk by, talk loud, etc. 💝
Some of the granular bedding was really wet with urine, and I wanted to give it a chance to dry. Also, bits of hay, poos, etc., get under the screen, and I wanted to clean the screen. The girls went into the temp cage. The screen got hung on the clothesline, got all the junk off the bedding, and mixed the bedding to get the wet parts on top. It took a few hours for the granules to dry, but they did. I love how the granules control odor, even wet, but wanted to help it a bit by letting it dry.
The girls are happily back in Pigloo City, covered in fresh hay. Hubby even made new lofts for the cage, so another upgrade done 🤗

It's so nice when they finally reach the point of knowing we're not going to hurt them when we pick them up, walk by, talk loud, etc. 💝 Cage cleaning time is one of the few opportunities I get to interact with the guys when they're not in their cages, but Murphy will never be a social pig. When I first started cage cleaning, I used a small travel cage for Oscar & Deo. Then I figured they weren't going to run off easily in the house, and I let them hide in their pigloos as their cages were being cleaned. Oscar was always one to explore and watch me clean his cage, and Stilgar seems to have a similar attitude.
I don't recall Theo's manner during cage cleaning. I think my daughter would hold him while it happened, but I'd have to scroll through the past pages in the Cavy Observations Thread to make sure.

I think it's different with lone pigs. Couples or groups get moral support from each other. When I had one boar and a successful group of sows, they did everything in a piggy train, and weren't at all skittish. Lone pigs don't have that, so often opt for know safety than risk taking. I think your boys have great lives. They haven't been with you long enough to reach their most secure and mellow, but hopefully they will. I think they're getting there 👍

Both were sound asleep, but Noodles, under the loft, woke when I stopped to take the pictures. Very relaxed Guinea girls 💝

Adorable! In the second one, Noodles looks like she's saying 'Fancy waking me up to take a photo!'.

Put the pigloos back on Pigloo City. The girls are loving tunneling through the hay and the pigloos. Each Pigloo has a back door. All that activity doesn't stop them from asking for treats 🤗

Cuties!
A back door is a great idea, both for reducing squabbles and increasing ventilation.

That's great news - very exciting! If only you get Noodles to understand what's about to happen, I'm sure she'd be giddy too!

Oh, no What went wrong? I've found boys very difficult to pair, though I've known people who had no trouble. Are you going to try again?

Sorry your intros didn't go smoothly, Seffy, it's always a bit disheartening.

Spent the afternoon stripping Pigloo City to bare bones, cleaning everything, and putting in all fresh bedding. Noodles is having her usual wonderful time exploring everything, after spending hours in a laundry basket with all the luxuries of home 🤗 we fixed some building problems that had developed since 2016, so PC is stronger than ever. I hope the baby girls like it 🤗
