Cool! Is the waterfall lighted, or are there iridescent creature making the light?

Cool! Is the waterfall lighted, or are there iridescent creature making the light? No, they had a light illuminating it from behind. It was still marvelous to behold.

Here's one of me (no hat on this trip, unfortunately) on Lan Tau Island in Hong Kong!

Wow, that's one big Buddha! It was quite a sight! For anyone who's following the Abstract Photo Thread, this one complements it: That's me wearing a hard hat and winter coat inside the giant freezer, with all the ice formations slowly melting. It reminded me of Superman's Fortress of Solitude in the 1978 movie.

Wow, that's rather cool! I like to think that's a hairdryer in your hand and you're working hard helping to melt it all!
No hat?! I bet you felt exposed and vulnerable for the whole trip!

Wow! Those are fabulous ice crystals! Are they melting because of a problem, or is that how they continue to create new crystals?

Wow! Those are fabulous ice crystals! Are they melting because of a problem, or is that how they continue to create new crystals? The whole place had to be de-frosted so that demolition could start- they were gutting the whole building to make way for a new design. And regarding the Hong Kong pic, that was during a "hatless" phase, where I got worried I might lose it on the trip, so it stayed home. So, here's another one in New York's Times Square!

Oh don't start on that already, Jo!
Times Square overwhelms me (in pictures/ film - never been there), all those high rise buildings, flashing screens, posters, traffic and people - total overload!

I admit, I'm more of a "natural wonders" kind of guy, not so much for big cities- but Times Square was something else. When I was in NYC, we started the day early touring the Statue of Liberty and hit the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, and by the late afternoon I was ready for a nap. However, we reached Times Square and inexplicably, the place just energized me. I posted a vid in the video thread, and the music you hear is actually what I heard a street musician playing!

I've been to Times Square, but I am not a city person. They don't energize me at all, just make me tired with all the constant noise, traffic and people. I have enough trouble dealing with Boston, but it's only a fraction of NYC, so I can deal with it. I'll take a walk on the beach, park or woods any day over a city. Just not for me. It reminds me of Hong Kong, wall to wall neon, constantly pushing advertisements. You definitely know when you're there It's also where I ate in my first automat, back in the 60s. Every food item was in a different cubby, like huge banks of mailboxes with glass fronts. Every cubby had a coin slot. Pay for what you wanted. Coming from nowhere Massachusetts, that was the coolest thing I don't remember the food at all, just the place

Cities drain me to Piggles love. The Gerry Rafferty song "Baker Street" I think describes how you can feel in London or any big city "Light in your head and dead on your feet."

I tend to get overwhelmed by large crowds, even if there isn't a lot of noise, and NYC is very noisy. Just the constant honking of car horns is a lot. I think we introverts just don't do large, bustling, noisy situations well. I really prefer the country, the quiet and the space

I am the same love, all the bustle and noise I get into quite a panic. I love the idea of Christmas shopping but when I have been out doing it in the past, I haven't enjoyed it at all. I have heard that New York is exceptionally good for Christmas shopping.

Who's thinking about Christmas shopping?! It's only early October! You do know we can ban people from Wheekers for bad behaviour don't you?!
