Unless it's changed a lot, the colleges want to meet each applicant individually, so everyone has to an appointment with admissions.

I called the rescue Danny takes all her animals to, and they had a 6-wk wait. Danny said her vet tried to get one of her emergency cases taken, and no vet could fit him in. He died, which really upset her and her vet. The other thing is Danny's vet is in Dover, which is over and hours from here. I called 13 vets, all recommended by the last vet I called, and some of the vets were in Massachusetts. No luck It's particularly scary as the girls get older. The vet I took Oodles to didn't really know anything about guinea pigs. Oodles had a UTI, and didn't get any help until it was too late I can have pigs, but I don't want to put them through that, if they get sick, going to a vet who doesn't know guinea pigs. That's not fair to the guinea pigs. Oodles suffered needlessly. I wasn't allowed in the exam room because of the pandemic, and a dog got hit by a car and it was all vets on the dog case. We sat in the car in the parking lot for over and hour before the checked her in, and over 3 hours while she apparently was along in the exam room while the vet helped with the dog. Not a good situation. Several of the vets suggested Weare Animal Hospital. Every pet I ever took there died. They wouldn't keep Momma overnight, despite me saying I couldn't give her the sub!Q fluids she needed. I hade braces on both my wrists, which they ignored. They told me to find someone to do it. I couldn't, and Momma died This is not a good place for guinea pigs

I only got the parrot on the carrot. I couldn't think of a bird the sounded like sleigh, or that sounded like spool. They may not be in my area. A lot of birds aren't.

It is, but the availability of vets is really concerning me. I shouldn't have to pay emergency vet prices, but guinea pigs aren't popular here, the way they are in other states, and to have to drive over an hour, or go to Boston to get a vet, really concerns me. I don't know if I'll get more pigs after these girls, and I'm not ready to go pigless.

Really. Your weather hasn't been getting to us as snow, just limited snow changing to rain, or all rain. We had another storm moving in tonight. Dusting to an inch of snow. Maybe 1/4" of rain. I doubt we'll go to walk at 5:45 tomorrow morning. The whole mess is supposed to be out of here by 1p.m. This winter has been weird, so far.
It will be good to go back to 8 hours for the very reason you stated. You have time to leave early, shovel snow, etc. Still, just getting back to normal will be good.

Pip's abscess is almost dried up and gone. No more necrotic smell. She is much more back to her old self, which is so good to see

You seem to be adapting to the time change very well. You'll adapt, again, when they change back to regular hours. I guess you just get as much done as you can, until then

We actually googled it, and more or less understood it, but wondered if it was a common phrase everyone knew but us.

Happy New Year, everyone! We may be about to get our first real snow. After Vic's incident last January, I was okay with it not snowing. Temps are still unseasonable high, so we'll probably get heavy, wet snow if we get any. The system bringing the weather is still on the west coast, so a we won't get anything until Sunday. I was watching the Massachusetts weather report, and their predicting a high chance of several inches to a foot of accumulation on Cape Cod and the Islands. Most of Cape Cod is out to sea, as are the islands. It's looking as if all of New England is going to get snow, it's just a question of how much.
I have a question for you two with teens. Do you know what tiny desktop concerts are? We heard the phrase for the first time last night.

If it isn't one thing, it's another. I'm really sorry about your dad. Speaking from your mom's perspective, she's really worried. She chose him, and vice versa, so she's worried is ways you and your brother aren't. I know how I felt when I saw Vic lying is the backyard. I have a feeling he's always been a bit stubborn. I hope he's learned his lesson. Maybe 2024 will be when he turns over a new leaf, and starts taking better care of himself.
I hope the new year is much better to you than the old year. Best wishes for a happy and positive new year!

I've seen that one before. The black pig reminds me of my beloved Zippy.

I should go out and take pictures tonight as it's not too cold. We have to really pretty decorations in the hood I'll try to the pictures of some of them, but I'm not out at night, and they're not only during the day. One house has a light tree, just streamers of light in the general shape of a tree, and that's still lighted when we go to walk in the morning, when it's still dark. We can see it at the end of the street when we turn on to that street, and it's so welcoming. Those grand houses do put on a bash, don't they

The abscess is much better. Even yesterday, the day after it burst, it didn't smell as bad as the first day. Yes, gut health is always an issue when you use antibiotics, and vets who don't know much about guinea pigs tend to prescribe Baytril for everything. That is so strong it kills everything including the good gut flora. She's eating, pooping and generally asking for snacks all the time. I've had pigs dies suddenly when they seemed fine, so I'm keeping a close eye on her. Thank you for asking about her, Baz. I know you're incredibly busy.
