Does somebody know which pellet and muesli brands are to be recommended in Canada?
The 4 year old girl of a Canadian poster has been on Hagen pellets but gone off them.
Thanks

PetSmart Canada (listed in the Wheekerpedia Resource Thread) offers many brands and types. I was looking for pellets with Timothy Hay or Alfalfa listed as the main ingredient, any added salt very low on the ingredient list, no more chemicals than absolutely necessary and no added colored bits or dried pieces of fruit/veg. Recommended: Oxbow Cavy Cuisine, 8 in 1 Ecotrician Organic Blend, and CareFresh Complete.
Would someone else check the ingredients in CareFresh Complete and let me know if they think it's as good as it seemed to me. I got my eyes dilated, so I'm squinting and straining. I may well have missed something important. I was a bit surprised to like it as a brand.

I use Oxbow Cavy Cuisine, but realize not everyone can get the same items. I like to find a few that are acceptable, so people have a choice. I just really stress having Timothy hay or alfalfa as the very first ingredient, if there is added salt, make it way at the end of the ingridient list, and avoid all added seeds or colored bits. Colored bits have dye and artificial flavors, and the seeds aren't usually the best quality. Better to use fresh fruits and veggies, and add seed hearts that don't have any pointy ends.
