Exciting news! Me and my mum had an idea to get more pigs. The bottom of our garden is being turned into a piggy dedicated area! These plans were put in place a long time ago however family issues and health issues have got in the way. We agreed that we need to get on top of it and then we can adopt a couple more girls and hopfully have a mini group of four once bonded with Amber and Mabel. We were unsure about it for ages until we found an ad online. A lady that lives only 20 minutes from us needed to rehome two female pigs. Well once I saw the pictures my heart melted! I just knew there and then these were meant to come to us! To cut a long story short, the new girls (a white and tan sheltie and a tri coloured smooth haired) are now with us. Bonding with Amber and Mabel happened yesterday with me on guard watching over the run for any agressive behaviour. As funny as it is, Mabel is top pig! There was some teeth chattering and chasing from Mabel to show them all who's boss but other than that they all just in the hay pile munching away! After being confident there would be no serious fall ours or aggression, I put them back in the freshly cleaned hutch. All seems fine! Mabel occasionally raises her head at the others and shoos them from her favourite spots, but the last check last night I found them all relaxing in the hay tray together. Fingers crossed this mini grouping works! Now to tackle the garden and build a piggy paradise! Oh I forgot to add! The new girls are called Peaches and Dolly I'll post pictures soon.

Oooh exciting - a very warm welcome to the newbies and I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of them! All sounds like it's going well and good luck with the building project!

They've been out in the run again today. No agressive behaviour and all eating and exploring together. Mabel still gives the odd chase but nothing nasty Got some lovely photos today which I'll try and get up tomorrow.

Aww they're gorgeous! You can totally tell Mabel is the boss, she has that look in her eye!
My lot have been enjoying some lovely grazing time too - they love it, don't they! I find grassy runs are the perfect place for intros, they're usually too busy chomping to make too much fuss about meeting each other.

Haha its hilarious! I did the weighing on Friday. Mabel is the lightest and tinest yet she knows she boss! Peaches is my chunkiest girl at 1005g.
Thats very true! They were so busy munching to begin with they didn't even realise there were other pigs on the scene.

They really do! They have been getting along well. Only dominance behavior now is the normal.. Mabel kicking out everyone from where she wants to go and Peaches being a grumpy bum when anyone tries to kick her out of her favourite cosy!

Sounds totally normal I'm listening to a war of words between Morty and Mia, because Mia moved a pigloo into the hay pile, and Morty wants it. Not happening

Haha bless them! All my girls like to boss Dolly around but Mabel allows her to lie next to her.

Momma used to protect Molly, who had a lot of health problems. Harlequin wasn't as accepting. Once Momma was gone, Morty had been added to the herd, and he really took care of Molly when her eyesight and hearing failed her. It was so sweet to see him precede her down the ramp, making sure she didn't fall, or guiding her to the ramp to go up for food and water. He was her seeing eye and hearing ear pig

Mine have a a piece of cucumber in the morning following by salad, Greedy Lacy Jane will leave her cucumber and go for the salad and poor old Darcy is eating his cucumber and misses out on a lot of the salad. I have had to start doing it the other way around LOL!!
