How are things going with Mac? Is he settling in and getting used to things?

A deer hound/ wolf hound/ greyhound must have been HUGE! It was huge and not a very nice experience to see it standing in middle of road blocking our way! Mac is settling in very well as you can see in the pictures. His eyes are improving with the drops even though I've really struggled to get them in his eyes. He isn't aggressive or anything when doing it but he knows what the bottle is and runs away and lies on his stomach when he sees it so that I can't get to his eyes. Hubby did find a method of getting at his eyes when he did that so hopefully solved the problem now. Mac has so many different looks - some times he looks like such a lab and sometimes the staffy in him really stands out - especially when he perks those ears up. Have included a photo of the ears just for weesilvie. He is very keen on the fire and likes carrying my shoes, trainers etc with him - so far doesn't chew them just likes to have them with him when he flops out.

We had a dog that had a thing with shoes too LOL She had to be laying on your feet or shoes ALL the time. If we were gone we'd come home to her laying on someone's shoe. Didn't chew them either, just had to lay on them.

He really is a beautiful dog, and I love how he looks like a lab in some pics and staffy in others. Sounds like he's a smart boy, by running when he sees his eye drop bottle.

Back to the vet yesterday and Mac got his second vaccine and his chip implanted. We've also now had his dog licence and licence tag so we can really start getting out and about with him. Looking forward to taking him to parks and the beach.
Our neighbours dog has been over a few times to check Mac out when he was in the garden with us and Mac been really friendly towards him. So hoping that's all a good sign. He got really over excited in vet's waiting room yesterday as 2 other dogs were in but it was all excitement and wanting to say hello.

Aww, he's just beautiful! What gorgeous coat!
Mac now knows that his home is with you, therefore you are his pack and he wants to warn you of danger and to let others know that he'll protect you.

We were able to take Mac out to a local forest park with a big lake at the weekend. We kept him on the lead as his recall just isn't good enough yet and he is still to have his neuter op. We did have the long lead so he got to say hello to the other dogs we met and he got a run round in the edge of the lake. We were very pleased with how he coped with the other dogs, bikes, pushchairs kids etc.
I'm waiting on a clicker arriving in the post for him to start training him with it.

Glad he had a great outing. He seems to be a very personable dog.
It's normal for him to warn you of approaching dangers, including people he doesn't know. It's only a problem if he never accepts your friends and neighbors, and always barks in a treatening manner. If he starts to bark to say hello, that's okay.
There is debate on the whole clicker system. I've heard rave reviews and terrible reviews. Never used it, so I'm interested in how well it works.
He is looking great!!!

I love the clicker and Mac responding very well with it. His recall is our biggest worry with him especially as we live out in the country, with very open garden and livestock around us. So are working with the clicker in the house on it and are letting him out in the garden with us for play, just until we can see he is starting to get too distracted and then we bring him back in. Took this video of him yesterday.
