Thanks! I can't either!! i gotta get her in the grass today...she'll love it. My old piggy, Patch, LOVED the grass. So every weekedn I couldn't bring her out side..and pick some grass...was all the buggers off it, and she'd have it inside. That was her favorite thing.
The petstore-- I went to get some food....and I saw sooooo many piggies...it made me feel soo upset. One (a GIGANTIC male) had been there for months. I told my dad....and he was all like "It's sad.....but he'll get a home". I'd love it if that was my home.
**Don't worry...if I get a male...neutering will be an option...if he's healthy enough. After the resting (quarntine---for safety..plus...he's a male....) time, I'll talk to the vet about it.**

He would be so greatful, too. Piggies really do know when someone loves them and cares for them. He's probably seen so many others come and go. I know this is a rescue friendly forum, but that pig would break my heart, too. I hope you rescue him, get him neutered, and he has the piggy life he's always deserved!!!

Thanks for understanding!! He's been on mind mind. He's a BEAUTIFUL pig. A pet store worker said the big guys always get picked last..if picked at all. He said the biggest pig before him took *months*...and no one would take him..so he adopted him and found him a home. Normally...with this being a rescue friendly site...I wouldn't do it...but this guy deserves it. I have one thing the petstore worker said that's been bugging me: -The man at the petstore said that (*un-neutered*) males and (*un-spayed*) females can occaisionally be housed together, because they *sometimes* don't wanna mate. I'm all like "WTf?! First off- why would someone want to do this...especially when you aren't sure? Second- What happens after that? The owner (I'm not talking about me....just some random person who would do this) would just get rid of the female or male pig? I mean, seriously" Sadly, people at the petstore aren't that animal-humanely inclinded, I guess, because it takes common sense for someone to know that you really shouldn't house an un-fixed pair of male and female together. I'd love to talk some sense into people at the petstore. Geez. The only reason I got to the petstore-besides supplies for the dogs/piggies- is to handle to poor pigs. They're just left in there. No one to handle them until they have a possible adopter coming in. I held the big male...he's a cuddle bug . I soooo want him!! Thanks everyone!! I'm rambling...I'm gonna stop now.

Rescues and really good breeders do all they can to feel out the buyers and make sure they are sincere. Pet stores want to sell pets so they can sell pet items, period. It's great that the pet store worker adopted the poor guy, but it's just one in a long, sad line of pigs that get left in store tanks until they are too old to sell. I don't even want to think about what happens to them, then, but they may be too old to even be socialized by then. It truly is so sad that there are places like pet stores that cater to the lowest, most inhumane. Maybe if they spent more time teaching people how to really care for pets, instead of selling matching outfits for your pets, people would think about animals differently. Okay, finished with my rant. It just guts me to see the poor pigs in a tank and all the stupid finery for dogs and cats. I hope you get him. He may need some socializing, but it sounds as if you are ready to do whatever he needs. Yahoo!!!

3piggles---I agree 1 million percent!!
Surpirsingly--he didn't seem to have any biting issues. I was overjoyed. He seems like a great pig...it's just his looks..but I think he's a VERY handsome pig. Haha.
Question time. Yay---like all my posts..haha!
If i get him neutered...will Violet have to get spayed?
Thanks!

No. Neutering is a much faster and much less invasive surgery than spaying, so as long as one is sterilized, nothing can happen. She will continue to come into season as usual, and he will continue to service her as usual, it just won't result in any babies. I'm so glad you decided to get him. I think he will become even more handsome once he knows he's loved in a forever home. There are concerns with neutering. Yodelpig's Hywell had some complications, and Bits' Marvin had a horrendous reaction to the anesthesia, so learn all you can about it, talk to the vet about what he/she will do in these situations, etc. I haven't had any problems, and have been really lucky.

I'm gonna start talking to the vet after he starts to settle in, and I know he's okay (I don't want to send him in until he's settled in well). I'm trying to convince my dad to let me go in tommorrow instead of Saturday...I really want him!! He's adorable. I've been questioning; "He's soooo cute! Why wouldn't anyone want him?!". More than likely, it's his size...but he's a handsome big boy. Haha...I can't wait...and I'll post more pigtures soon....

Morty is a big boy, too, but as a dedicated piggy lover, that just means more to love to me. To some people it means an older pig that isn't going to last as long, or one that's too big for little kids to handle easily, etc. There are a lot of reasons why people go for the itty bitty pigs, which is okay as long as there are others who love the big pigs!!! Morty is heavy for me to pick up, and I wouldn't have him any other way!!!

Yes, we are a rescue friendly site and we like to promote the acquisition of pigs from anywhere other than breeders and pet stores who get their pigs from breeders - but I think most of us are also happy when we can 'rescue' a pig from a pet store who isn't being looked after properly or, like your chap, has been there a while and his chances of finding another nice home aren't promising.
So, we support you! And look forward to meeting your new chap if you can get him.

Thanks! I'm glad eveyone supports this. Honestly, I wouldn't have bought from the petstore...but he's been in there for MONTHS. It's not fair for him. I'd fight against the pet stores for this piggy...I might have too, poor thing. No one has done anything to help him in there. That makes me sooo mad. I saw a man in there today, he was looking at the piggy's with me. He was still there today (the pig), and the mann was like "Is that a guinea pig?!". I was thinking....'holy cheeseballs!' (my words for language...haha). Then he adds 'I'm not getting him! He's mutant!'. I was like "what's wrong with him?! I love him!!".
Geez.....some people!! I want this pig. Poor guy! Some of the kids that I've seen there want him, but their mom's like 'Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.....no!'.
Geez...some poeple, eh?
Thanks y'all!!
EDIT
I asked someone at the petstore how old they thought he was...they said he's been there for 9-10 months...and they think he's about a year old...and that most people just walk him by. I got so mad!
Also, I'm going to the store today to get the coroplast for my C&C cage!! I'm so excited!!
I'm hoping to get him after I go to the hardware store. I'll let you all know.
Again, thanks everyone for supporting me. I wouldn't do this for a pig that had high chances for getting adopted. He'll have a great home with me. No matter what he looks like...he'll always be 'un-mutant' or 'clean' to me...unlike some other people at the store.
Still trying to come up with names.....he's all white with grey ears, and big. Haha...he's adorable!

Ooh, I really can't wait to see him!!! Maybe a name to represent his new status as loved in a forever home??? Happy, or something like that. He will be one happy pig when he realizes how much his life has changed:)

Y'all will love him! He's a cute lil' fella!
Haha. Still thinking of names.....haha....let me know what you think.
Thanks y'all!! You've been so understanding, helpful, and nice. This makes me feel so much better.....thanks!
