So my family is going on a cruise starting Sunday for a week. I have to leave Harvey at home and a family member will be taking care of him. This will probably mean she will feed him twice a day, clean his poops, and make sure he has fresh hay and water. She might pick him up for a few min.
My question is, will this separation from me change his personality? He's pretty used to the same routine day in and day out. I'm afraid that since he won't be getting that routine and he won't be getting much cuddle time, he will be different when I get home. Any help??

Brace yourself that he may be suliking with you when you come back - or be overjoyed. You never know; but he will surely be happy to go back to the old routine when you come back home.

Yes, he will range anywhere from refusing to acknowledge your existence to throwing himself in your arms and crying, lol. Depends on how well he's cared for while you're gone. Enjoy the cruise. Hope your minder does a good job for him!!!

Hmmm well that's interesting. I hope he will miss me and be happy when I come back. But he will go back to normal once we're back in our normal routine? I'm kind of worried because we have another week long vacation in July where we'll be apart. I feel like a bad piggy daddy for leaving him...

Mine always sulk for a bit when I get back, but veggies always make it better, hehe! I wouldn't worry about going on several trips within a short time span. Piggies are very forgiving and will fall back into their regular rountine with ease. My 2 most stressful experiences were leaving them for about 8 days last summer (my husband took care of them) and then I had to board them during Thanksgiving. They were in a whole new house, cage, etc. but actually had fun visiting with the other vactioning piggies, and they were just fine when I brought them back home.

I have had to leave Muffin when I've gone on holiday and usually my aunt and uncle look after him. They give him plenty of cuddles and he's always been fine when we get back. He never sulks or anything. Guinea pigs can adapt pretty well to change. Just make sure you make a big fuss of Harvey when you get back!
