Ok, we are new to the guinea pig family. I was just woundering if ours was happy or sad when she makes a purring sound and vibrates when I am petting her. I have tryed to find some answerwes but i get different answers one says it happy and one says its not. I am so confused...could any one help me? I want a happy guinea not a sad one!

I'd say your pig was enjoying whatever patting you are bestowing on him! They can make the rumbling noise after being startled, but it sounds like he's enjoying that lap time!!

Have a look at his body language while he's making the noise - that's the key as the sounds for enjoyment and irritation are quite similar.
If he's enjoying it, his body will be nice and soft and relaxed - he might have his head resting down or his eyes partially closed.
If however, it is a bit too hard for his liking and is hurting or annoying him, his body will be tense. He may also be biting down on whatever is in front of him or turning his head round to your hand in irritation. If he is doing that, just be more gentle and I'm sure you'll find what he likes!
