So glad to hear your baby is doing well Jo! It so great when they start getting better & being their delightful usual little selves again!
I have a comment about the antibiotic, that if I am wrong I ask others more in the know to correct me, but isn't it better to give the piggies Bactrim as the AB. The reason I say this is because when I gave one of my boars who had an URI Bactrim, I didn't give him any probiotics and he received as much treats as he would eat and he never had any kind of poo problem. It didn't seem to upset his system at all. It did take about 3 to 4 weeks for his URI to clear up, but he is doing well today (this was a month or so ago). I am personally allergic to penicillin so I can't have a lot of antibiotics, but I've actually been put on Bactrim before too and found it to work well. Just thinking it could be a good antibiotic all around, and maybe something to ask your vet for with a sick little guy vs. other antibiotics. Maybe other more educated piggy people would know more about this. Just wanted to put this out here, if it might help someone else.

Different ABs for different problems. This is the GL section on ABs, and explains it very well: www.guinealynx.info/antibiotics.htmlBactrim is the choice for UTIs, while Baytril is the choice for URIs, etc. Baytril is a powerful, wide-spectrum AB that is some vets AB of choice for most things, though most taylor the AB to the problem.
