Hey, Has anyone else been watching any of Royal Ascot this year? I'm not normally remotely interested in horse racing, but seeing as it's at the end of my street this year, I went along with a few friends. They were doing tickets for 4 pounds for local residents who live within 2 miles of the racecourse. Admittedly, you had to stand in a field lol, but we were so close to the track. Saw the Queen, she waved at us, looking very sweet in her purple outfit. I've never actually bet before in my life, none of us had a clue what to do. We all took 20 pounds and had a bit of a flutter, I only won 4.20, but still it's better than nothing, especially considering the strategy we were using to pick our horses..."ooh, that's a nice name, I'll have him, he's wearing a pretty colour too...." lol. Anyone else managed to catch any of it at all? I think I might have the racing bug now, oh dear lol.

Oh you saw the Queen and she waved!! Oppss mustn't get too excited lol I'm not into racing myself, mainly because of the injuries horses can get. But I know a lot of people enjoy it, were they all wearing fancy hats? So are you going to the bookies every saturday morning then? lol

I was sooo excited about the Queen, have been telling everyone I see, heh. It's really nice seeing everyone all dressed up to the nines, although it was quite funny - the day we went it rained all day, and people were covered in mud and their heels were sinking into the ground lol. There's a bookies at the end of my street ('Tony 'n' Trev's Betting Shop - sounds very classy, doesn't it lol), I'm sure I can resist the temptation though. I always think that betting shops look so...seedy. Full of unshaven men escaping their wives lol. I know what you mean about the injuries Jackie. It's like the Grand National, I hate when they fall over and hurt themselves. Some of the horses were stunning mind...

That's pretty cool, beeing waved at by the Queen! Nice of you to still bother with us 'commoners' now lol.
Fella's grandad loves the races and is quite successful with his flutters - I'm the same as Jackie though, I just worry about them injuring themselves and becoming dog food!
