Hi when i first registered this forum it said time and place and stuff like i live in Australia, Victoria but that wasn't there but the closest thing to Victoria was Darwin and when i post it says the wrong time because there was no Victoria if you could, could you please add Victoria, Australia into the time its is now 5:25pm but when i post it will say a completely different time Thanks

Sorry you haven't got the settings right for where/ when you are. Unfortunately we don't have the powers to add options like that ourselves - it's a free forum so the options that it comes with are what we get!
But if you look in your profile (one of the icons across the top) and select 'modify profile', it does have many time zone options (from -12 to +12 GMT - including some half hour increments for your area) - perhaps one of them will be the right one?
I always forget to adjust my time for daylight savings, so my time is often wrong!

I have also found we have to change our selection with daylight savings time, etc. It's a manual spring ahead or fall behind. When that happens, just go back to MODIFY PROFILE, and change the GMT +/- so it's the right time.

Where is the option to change time zones? I can't see it in my profile.

I went to look it up but it wasn't where I expected and a quick search has found they've actually taken that setting out for individual members. There's an overall setting for the forum, and apparently it should adjust based on the time on your computer's settings? I've never noticed it being right, so not sure about that!

You've peaked my interested, Bean. I got a general time reference, such as "58 minutes ago." I only get an actual time once the day changes, so I'm posting this at 4:43 p.m. I'll check tomorrow, and see if the system says the same thing.

I posted about bathing guinea pigs, at 5:08 p.m. yesterday. At 4:22 p.m. today it said I posted 23 hours ago. Considering I don't think it gives more than hourly updates, that would be somewhere around 5:22 p.m., but I supposed it could be 5:08, too. I don't know when it starts posting the actual time we posted. It posted the actual time for the post before mine, Bean's, I think. So I'll check that thread again tomorrow, and see if it lists the actual time.

I think it's after 24 hours? It's 10.14am here now - will check back in 24 hours to see what it says. We're such scientists here!

I think it's after 24 hours? It's 10.14am here now - will check back in 24 hours to see what it says. We're such scientists here! I think the time of each post will be saved using the local time on the server (wherever it may be) , then converted to your time zone on your PC or phone. When I view posts, it gives the time (in my time zone) followed by GMT+8. Using this theory, people in different time zones will see different post times calculated from the time stored on the server.

I just checked the bathing guinea pigs thread, and it has that post listed as 5:08 p.m., which is the exact time I had. I think the main time program is pretty correct.
