Decided I'd beat the mods to it, especially since they're always so late with it! I'm rather happy to see the back of May, it wasn't exactly the greatest month for me. I'm not sure June will be all that better though; exams coming up! Plus two assignments due next week, and a test the following Monday. Not looking forward to that test...however, I have started one of the assignments! Well done me! Weather's been fine past few days, but the temperature is definitely winter. Ugh. How's the British summer coming along, and whatever-season-it-is-in-the-US?

Oh blimey, you're good - I hadn't even realised it was June! The things you'll do to avoid studying, eh...
The British summer has predictably turned from glorious heatwave to cool and drizzly, bah! Really hoping it perks up by the weekend as there are so many outdoor events planned over the next few days for the diamond jubilee.

Well, I'm not sure if it was in the UK, when I posted it, heh. Or only just? Hope the weather clears up for your weekend; it doesn't really matter to me, I have too much work to do anyway. My eyes have been killing me lately, and I should have rung up the optometrist yesterday to book an appointment. I chickened out, because I seem to have a real phobia of phones, and of course, when I got mum to ring today, they're closed. Dang. Guess my eyes will just have to suffer a bit longer... And, can I be really cheeky, and troll for votes on here, from people on facebook? I've entered a photo competition, and I wouldn't mind the first prize!First you have to 'like' the page, before liking my pics, or it won't count. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.391825337520321.77498.205158892853634&type=1My two are Dodger(33) and Leila(34) I'm not entirely certain if I linked that the easiest way, so if there's a better way, please let me know!

Get widdit Teebers!
I hope it was a bit brighter in your neck of the woods than ours Treen. The village celebratory picnic ended up being undercover with people wrapped up in winter woolies! I did a good trade in my new sideline of face painting though as everyone wanted a Union Jack face!
In other news, I have a broody chicken sitting on a dozen rather expensive pure breed eggs so here's hoping for some fancy chicks in another couple of weeks!
We also have a good selection of veggies poking their heads up in the veg patch at last and 15 sunflowers in along the back fence of the garden.
On the downside I forgot to put the recycling bin out for collection this morning. Bah!

It's summer here in the US, anaira. Hot and dry so far, looks like we might be in for a drought.

Dave, please take some of our rain! On the downside I forgot to put the recycling bin out for collection this morning. Bah! Oh no! I hope the same fate doesn't befall me next week - I've already had to start up an overflow bag so will be jiggered if I fail to put mine out!

We are supposed to be having a summer, I woudl like to know when it is going to arrive. Personally I don't like the heat but so many little flowers and animals need it and it and I worry about them.

What day is your collection Treen, maybe we should start a rubbish reminder service on here. I was well into the overflow box with mine and even heard the bin lorry leaving the street as I got out of the shower! Almost tempted to run after it but you just know the towel would have slipped off at an embarrassing moment if I'd tried! Hey ho, I'll just have to remember to take a load to the local recycling bank this week instead. I missed your link first time round anaira but I'll give it a look now and click like!...Oh dear, Just tried that but seems voting has closed already! Sorry!!

What day is your collection Treen, maybe we should start a rubbish reminder service on here. It's Tuesday, but they often come just after 7am so it's a Monday night job as I'd just fall down the stairs if I tried to leap out of bed and run down to take them out! Maybe we could put these exciting dates as announcements in the forum calendar?! Not sure that'd be quite as useful for you as for me though...

I am very lucky, Paul takes care of the rubbish on bin day. We used to have it collected on Tuesdays but now, for some reason, it has been moved to Wednesday.

Ours is Thursdays, unless Monday is a holiday of certain magnitude. No one knows exactly what magnitude, so if we wait to put the trash out for Friday after some Monday holidays, we're a day late. Put it on for Thursday after some Monday holidays, and we're a day early.
We also don't have a special place or specific bins to use, so most people just drag the bags out to the pick up spot, and put them in a pile. That becomes a real problem if we're expecting a lot of snow that will be plowed regularly overnight, covering the bags. Generally not very well done, but all we have!

Oh gosh, this is starting to get confusing. There must be some way to easily remember who's bin goes out when. Ours are Friday but it's also a night before job so that's a Thursday night heads up please! Incidentally, before you all start ringing me, I've remembered to put it out tonight but it's green bins this week and they've suddenly decided to move newspaper from green to black so I don't know if they'll empty mine now as there's some shreds of paper in with the rabbit hutch shavings. Stress?!
In other news, the hole in the kitchen ceiling caused by a leaky bathroom radiator pipe above is now fixed! New loo installed (not in the kitchen!) and floor coming tomorrow so I'll be painting the bathroom next week!
Anyone here good at making curtains?

We had recyclables every other Thursday, and the trash collection starts at a different spot in the condo village each week, so we could be anywhere from first to last pick up. We do night before, too, just in case, and gave up on doing recyclables in a separate bin. Had to buy the ^(&* bin!!! OY! At least we aren't one of the communities that has switched over to everyone using the exact same bin that can be picked up by the truck with a lift thingy. I'd start driving it to the recycling center, instead.

After the delivery of a new green recycling box a couple of weeks ago, I now have five bins. Yes, five! The black wheelie for normal rubbish, the green wheelie for garden waste (including pig waste, which is why I have it because I have to pay for that one - £30 for the bin and then £30 a year for collection), a black box for some recycling, a green box for other recycling and a little brown thing for food waste. Good job I have a few steps out front to put Tue all on!

Sounds complicated! Hope you've got a big garden to keep all the bins in too, without them taking over! Fella's parents have a similar system I think, and they're all a bit miffed they have to pay for garden waste removal down there when so many other councils include it. Good that cooked food/ meat products can be recycled though - although no one seems to know what they do with it all?!
We have three bins - green (recycling - collected every 4th Tuesday - not often enough!!), black (normal rubbish - collected every Tuesday which is too often - ours is rarely even half full) and brown (garden waste - collected on a Monday with anything from a week to 4 months between collection dates depending on the season - no pet bedding allowed though!) and don't have to pay extra for any of them. I wish they'd collect both green and black fortnightly - if I start a petition, you'll all sign it right?!
And I have two compost bins too, but that's nothing to do with the council...

Oh I didn't know there was such a variety? We have a black wheelie for household waste, green wheelie for garden waste and two boxes, also black and green for various recycling. Both blacks one week, both greens the next! I still have to consult my bin calendar almost weekly to see which it is though so I'd be no good with a brown option too!!

It does seem as if some uniformity would work better, but I don't see that happening unless we all uniformly drive our stuff to the recycling center!

I still have to consult my bin calendar almost weekly to see which it is though so I'd be no good with a brown option too!! But my brown is the same as your green and you just have two boxes instead of a green (my green that is) - tom-ar-toes tom-A-toes? Can you put bottles in one of your boxes? We can't put glass in anything, we have to take those to the bottle bank. What else is annoying is that we can put different plastics in our green bin, than we can recycle down at the local tip so if we have overflow as we have to pick stuff out. Plus my mum and dad a couple of miles away get to put extra plastic items in their bin than us (we're just 1, 2 and 4). I'm going to get a frown line from squinting at those tiny triangles with numbers on on the bottom of everything to see if I can put it in my green bin or not! It does seem as if some uniformity would work better, but I don't see that happening unless we all uniformly drive our stuff to the recycling center! I always think it sort of defeats the object of recycling if thousands of people have to drive cars to do it!
