Hiiya, I have two boar piggies called Cookie and Jacob they are both 1 yr and 11months. Cookie is a American Short Haired piggie and Jacob is a white crested piggie. Cookie is tri-coloured and jacob is black with a white crest. Both piggies live inside during the winter and autumn and outside in spring and summer (they are moved inside if it rains or it's too cold. Thier indoor cage is a 2 by 5 C&C cage (well 2 by 3 with a random L shaped kitchen area.) The piggies hutch is a long triangle shape with a wooden and mesh walls, they have an indoor section with bedding on the right and a large outdoor section on the left which has a pigloo, a brick, food, water, hay and a jingle ball. The piggies both love carrots, dandelion leaves and celery (well there the favourites.) [/img] [/img]

Hello and welcome! I hope you can post some pictures of your boys and their living spaces! Glad they get to change locations with the season. Wonder if they smell spring in the air, and get excited about going back out to graze!!! Feed carrots in moderation, as they are very high in vitamin A, which can cause internal organ problems. I give my pigs slices of carrot, like tokens, so they can have a little bit often, and don't feel deprived. Also watch the dandelions, as they are extremely high in calcium. Too much calcium can cause stones, which are as painful to pigs as to people. There may be piles of white powder, excess calcium, on the cage bedding. If the powder becomes granular, cut way back on the high calcium veggies. Here's a link to some great nutrition info. I don't worry too much about the recommended amounts, just about keeping the vitamin C high, A and calcium low, and giving them a bit of variety. www.guinealynx.info/chart.html
