Beat you to it, anaira!
Hope everyone is well? We're enjoying the last couple of days before schools go back. It's been a good summer break, despite the lack of summery weather - saying that, we went to an outdoor concert last night (seemed like a very risky bet when I bought the tickets) and it didn't rain and was quite mild, so it could be worse!
I've not watched much of the Paralympics yet but GB look to be doing well again - it'd be nice to overtake Australia though.....

I've been watching bits and pieces of the Paralympics - it seems quite obvious that Channel 4's budget is a lot less than BBC's was for the Olympics! Despite that, I've enjoyed what I've seen so far.
Spent most of yesterday building IKEA furniture for my mum - she's finally emptied all of her boxes now she's got a wardrobe and a couple of chests of drawers to put her clothes in!
Feeling somewhat lacking in energy and motivation today - I could do with another extra day like we had last weekend with the bank holiday, could get used to three day weekends! Never mind, I'm on holiday the following week and off up to Scotland for a few days. Will cost me as much in animal care as it will in petrol to get there - Woolly needs special care boarding with my friends at Blackberry Boarding in Gloucetser (my usual vet nurse is not available) and the rest need feeding etc at home. Ah well, such is life!

I don't know where the time goes Treen love, have the kiddies really been on holiday for 6 weeks, it only seems like yesterday?
I hope they are all OK; I remember how nervous I was starting a new school.
Hugs

They're fine thanks Jo, they're looking forward to seeing all their friends again! I've been watching bits and pieces of the Paralympics - it seems quite obvious that Channel 4's budget is a lot less than BBC's was for the Olympics! I know what you mean - the coverage is nowhere near as dynamic and engaging. Plus the worst thing for me about it being on C4 over the BBC is the adverts - I lose interest very quickly when ads come on (if something I want to watch is on an ad channel I have to record it so I can whizz through the ads) so I'm not really gathering momentum. GB look to be doing well again - it'd be nice to overtake Australia though..... Oh and thank you fairy godmother!

Hah!
Ugh what is this infernal competitiveness?! Quit trying to define your self worth on a country-wide level by whether or not you're beating Australia.

I shan't be holding my breath for that one!
Has anyone seen the remake of Total Recall? I love the original and am kind of curious to see what they've done with it, but can't bring myself to watch it. Total Recall without Arnie and Sharon Stone?! Surely it can't work!

We didn't even get the Paralympics on US TV. I would have liked to have seen some of the events. Kind of a let down after such great coverage of the regular Olympics.
We saw the trailers for the Total Recall remake. Figure the special effects should be great. About the only thing to do new, better than the original.
School is back in session here, but thanks to Hurricane Isaac, it was postponed in some places. Florida, I guess, cancelled for a few days. New Orleans is, once again, recovering from the devastation. Some schools are still flooded, and once the water recedes, will have to be sanitized. Not sure they'll even be usable this year.

Will they be able to find alternate premises so the kids can still learn, or is it all too chaotic?

If anyone finds a link, I'd be interested in watching it, at least a bit. I really hope this exposure results in some changes. Will the government do anything?

Looks like you've got it bad up north today - we had it all down south yesterday . Trains were all up the spout, my journey took a couple of hours extra to get where I was going!
