Hello all! i work for a pet sitting company thankfully,i will be going out of town and will be having company owner sit my pets.im wondering how to plan the vegetables for the 2 guineas,i was thinking of cutting them up and pre bagging them but i think they would go bad.i have 8 other pets so id like to make the feeding as easy as possible for the sitter, considering she will only be here 3 times a day for 20 minutes at a time.i will be going out of town for 2 weeks.instructions are allowed to be a bit unconventional since she is my good friend but im trying to avoid her spending alot of time prepping food. i think it will be unavoidable at some point, shes is already caring for my 3 exotics that are alot of extra work so you get my drift.im hoping some of you have gone out of town and dealt with this issue.please help.

I haven't, but others have. Usually the make a very clear, simple chart for the person to follow, prepackage as much as possible, and even set foods up in servings. So you could precut the veggies, bag them, and make sure you get as much air as possible out of the bags, then all the sitter has to do is grab a bag and serve. Might want to do the same with the pellets and hay, so no time needed for measuring, just grab and serve. The veggies should be okay in pretty much air-free bags, but avoid leafy greens that won't last as well, and watery veggies that will effect the other veggies. Cabbage, a bit of carrot, broccoli, celery, anise, etc. for veggies. That type of thing.
As for cleaning the cage, again, the easier and faster you can make it, the more likely it will get done right. Good luck!

I usually cut up veg for 3-4 days in advance (afterwards they tend to go off) and store them in ice cream boxes in the fridge, with easy instructions on pellets, hay and water changes stuck to each box. For longer, I make a detailed ist for the pet sitter of what jobs to do. my piggies will have to compromise on some things for the sake of making it easy for the people who look after them, but as long as they are fed reasonably regularly they can cope.

thanks for the advice guys.im going to be gone for 9 days instead of 2 weeks.im leaving next fri.i already prebagged daily portions of hay and pellets for each pig.right now they are on fleece bedding but ill get some refresh before i leave.i bought a hand vac for spot cleaning.
wont cabbage go bad pretty fast if its cut? so i dont know what other veggies can last that long other than celery, broccoli and carrots......maybe green/red bell pepper? any other suggestions?,i guess im not sure how long these will last in the fridge...haven't been keeping track.
im fine with the pigs compromising a bit,the sitter wont be able to do daily cleanings considering how much is on her plate.but they will be fed daily and have fresh food,i think they be fine.thanks again

Don't sweat the details. If you're worried about the cabbage, skip it. It's only for two weeks. Tell you sitter it's there if she wants to cut some for the piggies. She will do fine! Enjoy your trip
