Hello friends
There is something bothering me and I wondered if I could discuss it with you.
I have just discovered that I have a phobia called Trypophobia. I have always had it but only just realised that it is an actual condition and I am not the only one suffering from it.
When I see clusters of some things, it makes me go funny inside and I want to scratch at the offending item. I looked it up on Yahoo and of course some pretty weird and horrid pictures (for me and some others) were shown and I cannot get them out of my head. I don’t mind so much if I know what it is and that it can be dealt but you just see the photos and despite trawling the internet. I cannot find any reference to them. There is one of human eye which is particularly disturbing and a dreadful thing on the back of someone’s hand as such occurrences in infections make me go really itchy. Some people are bothered by the holes in an aero bar or crumpets, these do not bother me, it is when an infection is involved I really get creepy. A child’s skull also, all those in bedded teeth and holes in the jaw.
I hope you do not mind my writing about this and I really hope no one else has this, it is a nightmare.
Thank you all so much for your support.
Lots of love
Jo xxx

Wow! Just googled it, and read about it on a few sites. Wiki said it's not recognized by the American psychiatrists, yet those same psychiatrists have decided the withdrawal effects of overdosing on caffeine is a mental disorder. OY! I had not heard of it, but can imagine it's a horrible feeling. I have an hysterical fear of snakes, a phobia, and I know I have no control over how I react. I do hyperventilate, but am really glad I don't go all itchy. Wiki listed a few books, and your local lending library might carry them. Be interesting to learn more about it. I would advise, though, that you have your hubby look through the book first, and over the pictures. Really no need to set off a reaction just to learn more about it. Hugs, and I hope you get some answers

Awww Jo, I am so sorry. I just read about it and I had never heard of it. I am so sorry you have to suffer with this. Just know that I am always here for you and I send you lots of kisses and hugs. I have many phobias and some are silly and some are terrifying. Frogs and Toads completly put terror into my body. I suffer from panic attacks and of course I have that fear of dying.
God bless you JO. My love is with you always. ♥

I'd not heard of it either but any phobia is a horrible thing to deal with. It must be rotten to have the worry that an image will pop up that will cause you distress. I hope that now you know it's a recognised phobia, there's a chance that will enable you to get some help and hopefully not have it affect you so much or find techniques to help rid your brain of unwanted images. Did you find any forums or anything in your search? Perhaps other sufferers will have some tips for you. xx

Thank you my loves for yur kind and understanding words, I just had to let my friends know, I just needed too talk abhout it. I don't think it is recognised yet love, but there is much evidence on there of many sufferers. Thank you Cavyprincess love for saying you are always here for me, it makes such a huge lot of difference.
I love bugs, frogs and spiders Cavyprincess love and yet have never sneered at those who have phobias with them, I have just felt sorry and wish it could change, for their sake.
Bean honey, yes i am on a forum for other sufferers, it is not very active but I keep going on there and so far one person has written to me. Someone has posted a video on there which is supposed to cure tryphobia but on seeing what others have said about it, it just makes the whole thing worse so I am steering clear.
I am going to try and get some books on it, it is a great suggestionn and letting Paul cover up the nasty pages. As you say hun, it would just be nice to know more about it. I have always been the same, even as a child. I can be quite happy doing something nice and these images will pop up and I feel ghastly.
Thank you my darlings for your kidness, it means so much to me.
Lots of love and hugs
Jo xx

Wow Jo, that sounds really unpleasant. So difficult for those of us who don't suffer such things to understand how they make people feel. I don't have a phobia but I'm not keen on snakes - they just give me a bit of a shiver when I see pictures or them on the telly. I really don't like real ones. I have slowworms in the garden and they freak me out a bit - as long as I see them before they get too close, I'm OK.

It's bizarre that so many links and information pages about it have pictures that would be deeply unsettling to someone with the phobia - deeply unhelpful. Good call getting Paul to help you in your search. If you can't find specific books on it (I expect it might be difficult if it's not officially recognised yet), I'm sure your local library will have some books on phobias in general which may help you with general coping strategies and relaxation techniques for when you're affected. I hope the forum peeps can help you too, Jo - although you don't want anyone else to be affected by this, it must be comforting to think there are other people who know how you feel and can give you some advice.

Thank you so much Bean Cavyprincess and Weesilvie for your help and support. Weesilvie love, I have a friend wh is afraid of the things you are afraid f but like you, they make her shudder. if she gets really close to one f the sunjects however I thiink she would then panic.
There is very little written about it at the moment Bean love but I will look in the library to see if there are any books specifically dealing with the subject. You are right, it never occured to me that ther people out there may be affected in the same way and it is comforting, although I am sorry that they are suffering to. Once girl wrote to me today and told me that oneo f the imgages is definately not real and enhanced and sick people just like to put them on Youtube or where ever for kicks. Talk about sick. I adore snakes, frogs and slow worms but I can easily understsand why some don't. I think you chose thigs with froggie designs on Cavyprincesslove love because the designs have them smiling and cute, so you can handle it.
Once again, thank you so much for being my friends, I am so lucky.
Hugs
J xx

Now that you've brought this to my attention, I see things that would set off the condition, everywhere I look. I never realized how many things have the potential to do that. Wow, not good at all!

I'm pretty sure 3piggles just meant she was sorry for you having noticed that these sorts of images are everywhere (not that they were upsetting her), so don't worry that you have upset anyone. We are all here to support you!

Oh Jo , I've just been reading all the comments re your phobia. I don't know anything about it. If anything pops up, take a great big deep breath and do something totally different to distract yourself. Their images only remember not any threat to you my love. Easier said than done of course. Speak soon, here for you, like everyone xxxx

Hi Jo, me again. I've just looked at some of the images. As a nurse I've seen so many similar things so not troubled by it BUT fo you it must be so difficult. Keep a small notebook with beautiful pictures in it, when awful images come to mind concentrate on your beautiful images my friend xxxxx

Thank you Margaret my darling, I have had such wonderful support on here and I cannot tell you how much it means to me. You are right, I should just try and dismiss the images and do something else by way of a distractoin and I am going to try.
I have felt so much better since I have spoken to you all; I love you and I would like you all to know that I am here for you too, no matter what it is.
Lots of love and hugs

Aww you're a sweetie, Jo! I think Margaret's idea of having a little book filled with lovely pictures or photos is a good one - help your mind to focus on other things when you do see something that sets you off. Perhaps it'll make it just a little bit easier to distance yourself from the unpleasant image as I can imagine they're pretty overpowering.
