Awww sweet Jo, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to lose a precious Hammy. I lost two before and it is heartbreaking. I still think of them. I am again so sorry and I am here if you need to talk. I love you sweetie. He is now with GOD and his angels. In the comfort and safety of GOD.

It was two years ago today that I awoke to find that my wonderful little friend Bongo had passed away during the night. You're right -- the pain of loss does not go away. I think of him and love him just as much as ever.

I too talk to Bongo every night at bedtime. The little urn containing his ashes sits on my nightstand. I may tell him if George or Arthur did anything of interest that day, and always tell him how much I love and miss him.

Those we love are always in our heart. I believe we can be complacent about the miracle of all life and I have no doubt that the understanding of life is well beyond our human level of knowledge. Must tell you this story.... On holiday last week, we went on a boat trip to see dolphins. My spaniel was with us and we sat near to a young man who had one leg and walked with crutches, he seemed to me like a soldier injured in Afghanistan. It was an extremely high amputation like a bomb injury. Anyway my dog went over and sat next to him and put his head on his one foot and lay there the whole of the boat trip. I asked he guy if it was ok and he said yes and he has a dog at home. It was as though my dog knew his emotional pain and sensed what he has suffered, it was just lovely to see. My dog actually has always jumped up on our knees in boats before as she is quite scared, but this time she walked over to the guy! There is so much that we humans can't feel , yet animals do. Xx

Jo I'm sorry to read about your wee hammy I think of all my animals, past and present, all the time. Margaret, that's a lovely story Even cats, often so aloof and independent, seem to detect feelings. They all know far more than we give them credit for.

Jazz Cat loved hubby, and would lie on the couch or bed with him endlessly, when he was sick. When she had her kittens, he was working down at the end of the driveway, and she yowled for him until we got him up to the closet. Then she had her kittens with him there to hold her paw, this time! I agree, weesilvie, animals have and can read emotions!
