We had one of those cameras, and loved it. Not seeing the pictures was a problem, which is why I finally upgraded. I still worked for the newspaper, then, and had to know the photos were print quality. We've been getting a weird shadow, almost like thumb on the lens, but it's not that. Seems to be on some pictures and not others. Have to get that sorted!

We will get another digital one as soon as we are able to but it was nice to learn that an ordinary camera's shots can be put on disc too. I hope you get yours sorted love, it is frustrating when they don't work properly.

I have had depression problems my whole life, too, but it was taboo to even mention it. I was in my late 20s when I stopped pretending I could fix it myself, and got some help. My father wouldn't even discuss it, but my mother was more than willing to tell the doctor all my problems! The point is, no one else is fighting the battle you are fighting, so they can advise themselves to buck up, but not you. There are people who can help. It often doesn't take more than the smallest dose of meds to get you over that hump, and on the mend. It is worth it.

Thank you ladies! It is nice just to know others share a commonality isn't it? I have always found it difficult to discuss my personal problems with anyone! My husband gets very frustrated with me! I just can't verbalize what's going on, except to say I'm sad... Anyway, I will talk to my doctor! Just as soon as I can make myself arrange an appointment...

I can't verbalize mine, either. I was taught to keep it to myself, no one likes a whiner, everyone has problems, etc. No matter how bad the situation, I always acted as if it weren't all that bad. Never air our problems in public! You can air what you feel comfortable airing, right her. We don't judge, and most of us can relate in some way.

It is nice to have friends to whom you can talk understand, and in that we are lucky.
It easy to say "buck up" I agree love, when the person sayhing it has no idea what you are going through. Luckily, I have always been able to talk about my problems and now I can. My frist husband was a pig but this one is so different. Many times he doesn't understand me at all but he does listen.

Aren't we a bunch of the most depressed happiest people around, and the luckiest to have each other. Thanks everyone. Monkey, the meds don't change you as much as you think, no miracle cure. I know that I stopped crying when I started meds. I am now cutting mine down slowly slowly slowly, to the point that I am now breaking tabs in half as I've read lots and will really gradually reduce. Last time i stopped over 2 wks period and my body didn't cope so well, low mood returned? I am keeping with positive people and taking 2-3 months to stop. Good luck Monkey an keep talking to us about it as its important xx I also use a SAD. Light and take vit D as we have reduced sunlight in Scotland and that greatly affects mood x

Ditto what Margaret said! I did ween myself off the meds, but it was not easy. I still get anxiety attacks, but do deep breathing instead of take meds. Just hang in there and do your best to ride it out. It does end.
Monkey, if the meds did anything for me, it was to level my moods enough for me to understand what was happening, and to start feeling in control again. Part of the problem with depression is that we feel we have no control over much of anything.

This might sound weird but when I was a bit close to the edge with depression, I found exercise classes really helped. Not only does the exercise give you all those happy endorphins, but an hour concentrating on trying to do what the instructor is telling you is an hour that you're not thinking depressing thoughts!

I am glad you are enjoying your exercise class; if I were fit, I think I would join one. I go to slimming world every tuesday morning and that brings me out of myself a little because again, we all support each other. The sun reflects Paul's moods, I am not so bothered though I like to see the sun. Hugs Jo xx

Ooh, I am a sun devotee! Even one cloudy, dreary day can slow me to a crawl, and two or more put me in hibernation. I have UV bulbs in lamps around the house to give me sun on those days, and it helps, but not like the real thing. Winters short days are hard on me, too. I have a light bank, but have to be careful not to use it for more than an hour early in the day, or I'm awake all night! Hate to even draw the blinds to keep out the heat on summer days!
Hugs to you both!!!

I'm with you Laurie! I love the sun! Bad weather always makes me crankier than normal... I have never tried uv bulbs though... Although I have two turtle aquariums with uv lights, I wonder if that makes a difference to outside the tank??? Probably not, as the glass would be a barrier. I'll join in the hugs!!! To all! x

I wish I did love the warmth but I am lucky in that I love the cosiness of Winter, especially with Christmas being on its way. Paul is depressed in the autumnal and winter months as the weather tends to determine his moods. I can remember coming out of school in the dark, going to the sweetshop and smelling everyone's coal fires burning (most people had real fires then)and getting back to our own comforting one.

We've had grow lights for plants for eons, but never used them for ourselves until the last 20 years or so. That's all the UV bulbs are, plant grow lights in light bulb form. They put spots of sun in each room, and if I stay by them long enough, I at least don't go into hibernation. Jo, the UV bulbs aren't expensive, and they fit in a table lamp, so maybe having one in the lamp bu where Paul sits will help. It definitely helps me. All the types of bulbs come in Daylight form, now, and we use the twisty ones mostly. www.lightbulbsdirect.com/page/001/CTGY/FullSpectrum?gclid=CLjRo47eqLkCFYWe4AodMwkAhg

Thank you my darling for that and for the link. I will have a look and show Paul when he gets in, to see if he would like one.

I've heard some reports from European friends that buying the bulbs online often results in getting repackaged, used bulbs. We just buy them at the hardware store, so we can see the packaging before we pay for them.
