Spice drops: www.google.com/search?q=spice+drops+candy&oq=spice+drops&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3j69i62l2.6789j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=spice+drops+candy&tbm=shopI could easily lose 80 pounds, but I'm not going to. I just can't exercise enough. Though I eat as much healthy food as possible, and our portions have gotten much smaller over the years, I figure my exercise helps my stay mobile, and combats a bit of what I eat. I think women put way too much emphasis on our weight, and we rue every ounce we gain. I see guys with huge bellies and moobs walking around topless, without even considering that someone might be looking at them wishing they'd cover up! I really wish women could find better ways to be happy with themselves, the way men are!

Oh yes, spice drops. they look like what we call jjelly babies! Yum yum. You're exactly right we should learn to be more comfortable in our own bodies. I look at my sister in law (the lovely natured one), who is well over weight. She is happy and buys the clothes she likes. I'm pathetic and say things like 'when I lose weight I'll buy a dress like that' , instead of enjoying the moment . I need a good talking too really.x

When I was little, a woman my mother knew had a fur coat, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I started with "when I'm older, I'm getting a fur coat." Went to "when I get the money, I'm getting a fur coat." Finally after having a baby it was "when I lose X amount of weight, I'm getting a fur coat." Then I became aware of all the fur trade issues, and stopped wanting a fur coat. Oh, well

That's good reading.......so my story will be.....when I'm a bit older I'll lose weight...went to......when I have spare money I'll join a slimming class.......then I had 9 piggies, and thought that when I have no piggies I'll have time to plan meals better.....then I became aware that its natural after the menopause to gain weight, so stopped worrying and didn't bother. You can get fake fur and I'll start eating healthier piggies.......there you go, all sorted! X

Hehehe, I like that idea! There are some nice fake furs, but I've reached a point where I feel as if I'm wearing my guinea pigs, so I just skip the whole fur thing! I did buy a pedometer, and it's connected to the computer by Bluetooth, so it records my steps, miles and calories burned. My goal is set at 1.25 miles per day, as that was how much I walked on a regular day, when I was decently mobile. I'm pretty much okay under 2 miles. After that, I am hurting. I do burn about 1500 calories per day just walking around and climbing stairs, but I don't lose any weight. I also don't really get any cardio out of it, as I can't walk very fast. I figure I'm doing the best I can, and that will have to be enough. If not, I do have a whole bunch of really good excuses

Oh Jo I'm just piling the pounds on. I'm playing at dieting. I think it's the medication, or is that a really bad excuse? I really must get motivated .HELP. X

Between medications, food budgets that don't allow us to only eat the diet foods and health issues that keep some of us from being as mobile as we'd like to be, we really need to be a lot kinder to ourselves about our weight. If we aren't eating endless fattening foods, huge portions, and doing nothing but vegging in front of the TV, maybe we are doing all we can. When we finally get the attic carpeted, I am going to buy an exercise chair for people with mobility issues. vqactioncare.com/It has a lot of attachments that aren't shown, but is basically low impact to keep muscles and joints moving. I try to walk at least my 1.25 miles per day, throughout the day, and there isn't much more I can do. Winter is coming, and even getting outside to walk will. be hard, once the snow starts to pile up. It will be nice to have the chair so I can workout a bit, in front of a TV, in a warm space. I could join a gym, and maybe once hubby retires, we can join the YMCA or something, but I won't go alone, and we don't really want to exercise and get our blood flowing at night, before bedtime! Go easy on yourselves, ladies. Eat as well as possible. Exercise as much as possible, but enjoy life along the way, too!

Oh thanks Piggles you always say kind words. That chair sounds fab, it would be perfect or winter months x Where I work there is a new swimming pool and it has exercise machines in the water, specifically or people with mobility problems such as arthritis. The water allows people to exercise without strain on the joints. I things its not well used as it has to be booked at a set time and equally people feel too self conscious and a bit afraid of actually getting in the pool, which is a sham. Xx

I think most people want to go to the gym when they are totally in the mood, or when their friends are going, not when they can schedule time on a specific machine. Maybe changing to a first come first served basis would work better!

Before my disability took over, I used to go to the gym. I really wish I could be fitter now but I am very limited. I am very self conscious Margaret love when it comes to swimming with other people.

I have bought a few gym memberships over the years, but haven't gone on a regular basis, and been in great condition, since I was single. Always seems to be something more pressing to do, and when there's nothing pressing to do, I want to rest. I do love to walk, and wish it were easier for me to do. Also wish we didn't have icky, cold, icy winters

Sorry to hear that Jo. I live near lochleven in Kinross and the farm shop beside the loch walk have got 3 small electric type chairs. I am delighted when I see people with their sticks or zimmers, using the chairs and enjoying touring the countryside. It must be so frustrating for you but you sound like you cope well and got the right attitude. Take care my friend x

We have those electric shopping chairs with baskets, in all of our stores. They are a real help to the handicapped shoppers. The US does a lot for the handicapped, just not for anyone else. Good, even if stores don't always want to comply. Can't cram as much into a small space, if the aisles have to be wheelchair friendly!
I do wish you could get out a bit more, Jo. It isn't always easy for me, and I don't walk far from a route back home, but I can get outside and do a little walking most of the time.

Some of our shops have wheel chair hire but not the electric ones. I know what it is like 3Piggles love and thank you for your kind words. There are so many things that we are unable to do when we get older due to one thing or another.
Hugs
