It hasn't stopped anywhere, unfortunately. The practice changed to letting them slowly go unconscious, then cook them when they are supposed to be beyond feeling anything. I love lobster meat, but can't bring myself to eat it. Why can't people put themselves in the victims place, and sort how they'd prefer to go? Instead we make justifications so we don't feel guilty. Hiw is catching a fish, tearing the hook out of it's cheek and letting it go not torture? Fishing, hunting, etc should be for food needs only, never for sport

I entirely agree with you love. Not far away from us called Padstow and there is a lobster hatchery there. They are emphatic about not abusing these little things in any way, I do wonder how much is true. My heart really goes out to them but I don't think there is an organisation yet for protecting crustasceans specifically. I will definately look into it.

Kind of raises the question of life value. Is one life more valuable than another, and if so, why? We all have to eat, but we can respect our food. We want medicines and products to make our lives better, but at the expense of another life? Animals don't wrestle with moral questions. They don't need to. They live their lives to survive. They don't hurt for the sake of hurting. They have no greed or avarice, yet we look down on them

I've never eaten lobster but have seen them in some restaurant windows and never like the idea of how they are killed. I hate that they're sold live too, and that inexperienced people think it's fun to have a go - what if they cause even more suffering?
Chimps can be blooming horrible to each other for no good reason. Maybe that's where we get it from.

The chimp connection makes sense. I guess they spoil quickly, but cooked alive, nope. Juat can't do it.

You are right 3piggles love, I am having a heated argument with someone on Care2Causes about animals and how they are treated. I could knock her block off!!!
It makes me sick to the stomach Bean, that little things should have to endure such suffering. I would like to put those responsible in a boiling pot and see how they like it!!!!

Thank you my friends and do not worry Bean sweets, my bad side isn't bad at all except when it comes to cruelty to (any) animals. Thank you 3 piggles love for your support, it means a lot to me to know that people, especially good friends, are on my side.

Have you managed your birthday trip to the donkey sanctuary (sorry if you've mentioned it and I've forgotten!) or are you waiting until all the tourists leave town now?!

No Bean love, we just didn't manage to make it. We will try again soon but probably when the chldren have gone back to school. It is really nice of you to ask. I hope to revisit Newquay Aquarium also because I love sea life as much as land animals and I would love to feed a stingray, they are so cute.

I'm sure you will enjoy your trip whenever it is you get to go, and I don't blame you waiting until it's quieter. The aquarium sounds great too. The first time we went to the Sealife Centre in Birmingham, I can remember seeing the stingray - they were so cute and they set it up so you could sit on the edge and dip your hand in the stingray would come up and rub up against it, they were so friendly. They stopped it though, not sure why.

People probably tried to hurt the stingrays Those people spoil it for everyone I loved my trip to the aquarium, but it's in a busy part of Boston (thing London docks area) with the train stop several blocks and intersections to cross away. Taxis cost a fortune, so doubt I'll get there again. Just can't do the walking. I'd love to find one with a parking lot School breaks aren't the time for us older, slower people to visit, either

Oh Bean love, that would be a perfect day for me, contact with a Stingray. Apparently the Octi at Newquay Aquarium has her lunch at 2 pm and you can watch. I want to give her her lunch though and perhaps get a little stroke but they probaly don't allow it. You are right 3piggles love, it is these b...... who want to hurt the little ones who spoil it for everyone else. We hope to get there very soon as it is not quite as far as the Donkey Sanctuary. Thanks FaaFaa love, it is never too late LOL!!
