So now that my beloved George has gone I still have Henry left. I can't replace George because of my own living arrangements which means that Henry is now on his own. They didn't live together anyway but they were still able to smell each other and talk to each other. My worry is that Henry will become lonely on his own and will start to get poorly as well.
Is there anything I can do to make things easier for him? There is no way I can get another one (as much as I'd like to!)
Henry is around 3 years old and is aggressive to other guinea pigs, this is why him and George weren't put together.
Thanks

I have a lone pig, and I keep her cage full of things to do. She is an active girl, so I have tubes and tunnels, a chew log she also uses as a tunnel and tips over regularly. She can flip the tunnels, and she regularly runs zoomies in patterns she determines. I would day lots of items to stimulate his creativity, and to keep him busy. She also loves to lie by the edge of her cage and watch whatever is happening in the room. That's one reason I have Plexiglas sides on the cages There are treats holders that hang from the cage roof and make him work a bit for his treats. That will also keep him busy. I've known of pigs that responded well to having a plushy in the cage. Mine never did, and since he's not mourning the loss of a cage mate, I don't know if he needs that. I hope you find a good combo that works Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

As long as Henry has plenty of interaction with people around him and lots of things to keep him stimulated and entertained in his environment, he should be quite happy, especially if he's not one for being sociable with other pigs anyway. Some people leave a radio on quietly, others pop a soft toy piggy (safe to be chewed) in the cage - just try different things and see what keeps him perkiest. If he starts looking a bit depressed or bored, think up some new things that he might like to do, or increase the time he's spending around people. It's always a difficult one when you've made the decision not to get more pigs and then are left with one on his/her own. Hope that Henry is okay, and that you are too. xx

Thanks guys, will have a shop around and see what I can find. I think he's going to be very very spoilt now!
I'm okay, get a few moments every now and then. Like an idiot I got upset at work this morning and got sent home! Hoping things will be easier next week.

Did you see the link I posted in that last post - to Cavy Spirit's toy page. Lots of great ideas in there and they won't cost much either.
Aww you're not an idiot at all, it's totally natural for these things to hit you at quite unexpected (and often inconvenient) moments. It's been a tough few weeks for you and for it to end so sadly is just rotten. I'm sure Henry will help cheer you up. x

Thanks, my moms been taking care of him all week, I haven't been able to face coming home and seeing George's empty cage. I'm back now though and have cleaned it out and redesigned it so that Henry can move in there. It's a bit bigger than the one he's in now. Will check out that website now Indiana x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you, I've moved Henry into his new home and he seems to be enjoying it! Doesn't seem to be missing George at all! Indiana x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Attachments:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I haven't lost a guinea pig yet, so I can only imagine what you are going through. Praying for you.

Thank you darling, it's been tough. The hardest part was cleaning out his cage. Just focusing my thoughts on making Henry happy now.
