It sounds like a great set up for her. Has she chewed any good books lately?!
Oooh your boys look content, Shades! Have they grown? They look bigger than before.

Aw, love seeing pics of the pigs They are gorgeous, and I do love that cage I have the water bowl on the loft, so there's no bedding or hay on the loft, just the fleece pad and the pellet bowl. I've had the bowl on the loft for over a week, and it hasn't been fouled at all. I found when the pigs had room to run around, they kicked a lot more junk into the bowls, than when they didn't have room to run.

They are lovely Shades hunni, what beautiful piggies. Are they nervus or friendly Definitely friendly especially when foods around. Only really get nervous when it's time to be picked up by my big hands. They're not into that at all. They're not into lap time either. They're much happier shuffling around/snuggling up together.

I love when they purr and cluck. If we're petting them when they purr, we can feel it all the way down their bodies

I can't get a purr out of Murphy; he's similar to Theodore in that respect. Oscar as always, loves being petted and is always vocal about it.
On an unrelated note, these guys are getting so picky about chew toys! Neither one shows any further interest in cardboard tubes or cubes of compressed hay. Also, there's various chewables that they like, as long as they don't have them too often. Both of them enjoy a simple willow stick in the morning, but you can forget about it if you offer it to them two days in a row!
I'm always varying what I offer to them each day, but this is getting out of hand. I'm thinking they're getting spoiled; it's just that I want to make sure they aren't terribly bored while I'm away.
Truth be told, they both love their cages- whenever I finish cleaning their cages, Oscar would always walk up to his cage, scamper up the door (using it as a ramp) and jump inside. Now Murphy is doing the exact same thing- when his cage is ready, he ambles over to his cage, sniffs carefully, and then leaps up home!

I have never had an ultra friendly piggy, some have been more friendly than others but I have never had one who purrs. I really hope to one day as it is so lovely holding them and hearing them chunter. Ha ha Baz love, they are always eager to get back home when they are cleaned out.

Baz, try something stationary. I have a chew log: www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/ecotrition-snak-shak-activity-logIt also comes in a snak shak:http://www.petsmart.com/small-pet/supplies/toys-and-habitat-accessories/ecotritionandtrade-snak-shakandtrade-edible-small-animal-natural-hide-away-14352.html Hubby thought this looked too much like a tiki hut, lol There are also chew tunnels/tubes/bridges: jackiesguineapiggies.com/toysandhomecomforts.html Jackie's page has some different ones shown, just to give you an idea. Some pigs just like to have what they're chewing stay in one place. That's why the cardboard box houses are such a hit. It's a house, it's a chew toy, it's something to play through, and they will have a wonderful time totally destroying it

I'd have to take out his pigloo, perhaps. Not sure if he'd like that- he needs a place to hide! One new observation- I think Murphy finally discovered his water bottle; I check it every day to refill it or switch out a new one and the water level had definitely dropped, almost a whole quarter of it gone! Oscar's had also gone down. Maybe they were both thirsty after cursing each other out all afternoon! I cleaned their cages and tried to catch them jumping up into the cleaned cage, but I missed each time. Next time I'll have Vicki assisting me; she was out getting new shoes for school and I was flying solo today.

I have a strip of fleece pegged to the end of each cage (across the width, pegged to the bars) - it's somewhere to hide and they use it like a hammock, but doesn't take up any floor space.

I was going to suggest a piece of fabric across one end for a hidey. Also, unless your boys are huge, they will fit in the log, and definitely in the snak shak. A wooden house instead of a plastic pigloo also doubles as a chew toy. The pigs chew the edges around the door and window. I like the snak shak and log better, as I was always afraid the wooden house might splinter. Even a cardboard box with openings cut out for them to play through, sleep in, etc., works great. No pigloo needed, when they have a cardboard box house.
This page has several examples of houses the pigs can chew, from woven straw houses, to wooden houses they can get on top of of, etc. The WARE Rabbit Den is similar to houses I used to have, only mine had windows. You can cut windows in any of them using a drill and round saw blade. If I didn't have the lofts with the deep hidies under, I would go back to the wooden houses. I have a lot of plastic pigloos I'm not using.

Murphy has picked up the habit of flinging his food bowl as he eats; sometimes he gets it to land on an angle, other times it just turns completely upside-down. He just grabs it with his mouth and and HEAVES! It doesn't seem to bother him to eat off the floor of his cage. Also, he ADORES grapes! I was running low on cherry tomatoes for snacks, and wondered if he would like to try one. Oscar never goes for sweets, so I didn't bother offering him one. But Murphy grabbed it instead of the carrot (his usual favorite) and wolfed it down in seconds! I wonder if he'd had them before. If not, I wonder how he knew he would like it. It's fascinating how pigs have different tastes; Deo loved cherry tomatoes but Theo shunned them. All three pigs from the shelter loved watermelon but Oscar doesn't. Oscar loves all veggies, but lettuce takes top priority, while Theo and Murphy held the carrot in highest regard. Don't worry, I'm still keeping the sugar to a minimum. Oscar gets no fruit, and Murphy gets something sweet once or twice a month.

It is true they are as individual as we are Baz love when it comes to their food, I just have very faddy ones. We bought some asparagus earlier in the week but neither Merley nor Holly liked it. Likewise I have tried melon but no. Cucumber and tomatoes are a favourite and just lately they have taken to carrot whereas they never have before. I also have a piggy who used to tip his dinner over. I think some like to eat of the floor, mucky-pups LOL.

I do love their individual personalities, likes and dislikes. Mine tend to like the same things, but get bored with certain veggies after a while. They'll snarf it up like crazy for a while, then give me that "really mom?" look. Time to try something different. Mine won't eat cherry tomatoes. Noodles actually smells it and runs away. Oodles will take it and dump it someplace, so I find it uneaten, later. Watermellon has always been a fav or everyones. Noodles and Oodles like cabbage, but none of my former pigs did. Usually tossing the food dish is a sign of boredom. I don't know what he has to do in his cage, but he's decided that's a fun way to spend some time. Dallas used to move the pigloo all around the little store bought cage my daughter bought for him and Dakota. He could only move it a few inches in any direction, as the cage was so small. It had an attached house, but Dakota was always ill, and always in the house. I used to watch Dallas move it around the cage for hours, just to keep himself busy. When I took the boys away from my daughter, we bought the biggest store bought rabbit cage we could find, 2'x4', and they had so much more space in that cage. No more pigloo pushing. I have noticed that almost anything can be a fun pasttime for them. Give them a lot of things to do, and a lot of company to do it with, and they'll get into trouble as a group I used to block access to under the cage in the old piggy room. The pigs had the whole rest of the room, yet Morty HAD to get into that space, and no matter what I did, he managed to best it. Then all the girls followed him into the forbidden area, and popcorned all over the place. I do miss those days of free-range piggies. It really wasn't any more trouble to keep the rug vacuumed and washed, than it was to clean the cage, replace and wash the fleece, etc.

I got my guys one of those Snak Shak treats, one each. I'm holding off on getting the huge pigloo-sized models until I see how they like the smaller version. They'll get them for Christmas!
