We are getting another treat ball for Holly for Christmas plus another little extra toy. The trouble is she is so used to not having to work for her treats lol!

I hope the snak shak log is a hit. Mine chewed it sometimes, didn't other times. I've probably had it for 10 years. Suddenly it became the IN fun thing for the girls

Merley is enjoying running in and out of it at the moment although he hasn't started nibbling yet as he still has his house for that. Felix loves his toy and Holly prefers Mr Cardboard Chewy Box to her treat ball LOL!!

Mr. Cardboard Chewy Box wins every time with mine, and always has. One time I put a small cardboard box in the cage for them to chew, and Harlequin managed to scrunch herself into the box and claim it as her own, lol We've been listening to the current cardboard box house being happily destroyed in Pigloo City I have boxes full of toys and treat things I tried with my piggies, and that flopped completely. If they weren't already used, I would give them to the rescue for their piggies. The girls had their own Christmas breakfast with the family, the ends of the carrots I put in the slow cooker with the pot roast. They were thrilled. My granddaughter got to feed them their breakfast, so she was thrilled, too

That sounds lovely Piggles hunni, ours had carrot tops too and since they have decided that they love carrot, it was nice to be able to give them the whole thing and see it demolished.
I just don't buy Holly toys as such anymore as she just looks at them as if to say "What am I supposed to do with this?" Mr Cardboard chewy box was very naughty over christmas however and needed to be taught a lesson on several occasions. Once he landed on her covering her and all we saw was Mr Box moving, I think he got his own back LOL!!

I gave them the Snack Shak logs; they both chewed them experimentally and have left them alone since. I'll leave them in the cages; I consider them long-range toys. Unrelated but amusing; I had finished eating an apple and went to go play with them for awhile, and both of them tried to nibble my fingers- apparently they both smelled the apple. Oscar was quite aggressive about it, too- he was going so far as to lean WAY out of his cage to try to take a chomp! I gave him a headbutt and put him in his place.

That is so cute about the apple. Every time hubby came into the living room with an orange, Dallas would zero in on him and try to get some of the orange by staring at hubby Hubby said he actually felt the stare Hubby learned that he had to share his orange with Dallas, just about half a segment, but Dallas had to be appeased Yes, the snak shaks are long term. They will chew for a bit, not for a while, just whenever it suits them. For some reason, Noodles and Oodles are really into the snak log, and have really chewed it a lot. I've noticed, after having granddaughter for the weekend, that the girls definitely prefer to have me hold them. When we sit with them on the couch, whichever one hubby has is always looking my way, and seems to be quite happy when hubby lets her join her sister and me. They weren't interested in having granddaughter hold them, although I tried. I think because he mom uses such a strongly scented laundry detergent, that was bothering me, it was also bothering the girls. She did get to pet them up close, though, even if only for a short time.

That's what Merley had Baz love, or something very similar. He is using it to run in and out of at the moment and hasn't got around to chewing it yet. Mine two love apple and get it sometimes for a treat. I don't think animals like the smell any anything human perfumy Piggles love, it think it upsets their delicate little noses. Whenever I go anywhere where I am likely to be holding someone, I never wear it.

Jo, and yet all the groomers wash pets in strongly scented shampoos and conditioners, all the ones available in the pet stores are strongly scented. If the animals are even half as allergic to perfume as I am, it would explain their chronic skin issues

The logs I got for them are those smaller models, the ones filled with chewy goodness. They really like their pigloos and I'd hate to deprive them of familiar surroundings. If they use up their Snak Shaks I'll consider getting a large one down the road; we'll see how it goes.

Very true Piggles love and yet I know you can get scentless shampoos for animals because our dog groomer used to use one. It makes no sense. The scent is obviously for the benefit of the owner and not the pet. I hope they enjoy their Snak Shaks Baz hunni. Merley seems to have stopped chewing his edible house for a while, I just hope he hasn't become completely bored with it.

We're having an addition put on the house, and since the work is being done right by the wall where Oscar and Murphy's cages are, we've moved them into the living room where they'll be further away from the noise and vibrations. The only catch is that now they can see us going into the kitchen, and they automatically assume it's snack time, regardless of whatever time it actually is. Both of them start wheeking, and you know Murphy gets pretty loud when he wants to. It's cute, but I have to teach them that they're not entitled to snacks every time I walk past them.

Ha ha I know exactly what you mean Baz love. When we had more piggies than we have now we couldn't rustle anything or walk past without demands for food. Merley doesn't ever wheek and I must admit I miss it. The thing is it used to work because on most occasions I couldn't resist those gorgeous pleading little faces LOL!!

Mine don't get anything, if they wheek for it. They can dance, put their hands on the front of the cage, but not ask for a treat. Sometimes they get a treat, but not always. I do tell them No Treat, when I'm not going to give them one, so they don't think I just forgot. Guinea pigs can learn simple words and phrases. It takes a little while to train them, and everyone has to do the same thing, but they will learn. Pigloo City is on the far side of the dining table, in the dining room, in the great room with the kitchen and living room. The girls have learned all sorts of things. When we turn off the TV at night, they are going to get their nite nite treats. When either of us goes into the kitchen, they might get a treat or might not. If we sit down at the dining table, they get a veggie meal to eat while we eat(usually a slice of cucumber cut in half). Once we've turned off all the great room lights, they're not going to get any more treats. If either of us goes out there during the night, the girls get hopeful. Hubby usually gives them a treat. I don't. Hoping for treats is a big part of their day, so let them get excited, just teach them not to make a big noise about it

It used to be deafening when we had a lot more piggies but I must admit I miss it. They would do it when Paul was watching something on TV and he would say "My Programme, my ears" which always made me laugh. I am afraid I am very indulgent with my animals, probably too much so.

The Pigloo City Ladies get more than enough treats. They just try to convince everyone that they're being starved, so they can get even more They really are good about not wheeking up a storm. They get really excited and forget, now and again, but a reminder is all it takes for them to quiet down

I don't know what it is about this particular bag of hay I bought, but I swear it smells like apricots. Of course, I've learned my lesson and will not be taking a bite.

We moved the piggies over to our office because the construction has moved into the house and they tore down a wall or two. Too much dust would be everywhere, so I moved the cages into a room where I could keep them safe from the noise & dust. My wife wanted to cover their cages with plastic sheeting, I said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
In any case, they both sit by my computer and I can watch them occasionally as I do some work. Today I watch as Oscar played with his wicked ball- he managed to push it with his nose between the cage wall and his pigloo, whereupon it rolled up and landed on his head. He sat there wearing it like a crazy hat for a moment, then wriggled away to attack it with his teeth.

Ha! (What's a wicked ball though?!)
It's funny as the pigs are by my computer and if I'm on it in the evening and having a snack, they're usually wheeking away, trying to get noticed and gifted with some food. But during the day, if I'm working on my computer and eating a bit of fruit, they don't make a song and dance about it, but I sometimes turn round and see them all lined up with their paws up on the side of the cage, looking at me with hopeful/sad eyes!
