None of mine could be bothered with the wicker ball, or with the plastic woven one so many people said their pigs liked. Oscar sounds like my late Dallas, who was always playing by himself, pushing the pigloo around, tipping the pellet bowl, something. He had a cage mage, Dakota, but Dakota was always sick, so not much fun. Dallas entertained himself for hours. Bean, mine are in the dining room, so they can see eveything we're doing in the great room. They do try to get noticed by hanging over the plexi on the side of the cage, but they rarely wheek. They know they don't get treats if they wheek. I do love how different they all are, and how inventive they can be

Oh silly me, I should have thought of that, but assumed there was some new pet toy craze I hadn't heard of! Mine love those balls and destroy them pretty promptly! I should learn to make my own really.

Ha ha, I think I will buy one of those for Merley. Merley is in the living room too so he can see what is going on all the time. Usually you just see a little nose peeking from behind a wall of hay LOL!!

I think those wicker balls are great, and they can be chewed

If that's what you enjoy doing, 3piggles, then don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't be doing it!

Fabulous! I think you need to grow some cat grass, too It's a great, soft bed in the sun

Haha! that would certainly explain the flat grass.... She's grown loads since we last saw her - such a beautiful cat.

Thanks to you both. I love the way she looked round when I called out "hello cat!" Looking back at the other photos, I can't believe how small she was last August. But even now, there are moments when she appears small. Usually when she's been told off and is grumbling about the injustice She kinda nibbles at this grass but prefers to play with the water when I bring out the watering can. What's the difference with cat grass? How will the cat know it's for her?

In the pet stores around here, that grass we bought for the pigs was sold as 'cat grass," as cats ate it for their digestive systems. Apparently she'd rather lie in it than eat it

I have never seen Cat-Grass advertised or on sale here, I wonder if it goes under a different name.

www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=373I think it's wheat grass. It's available online in small bags, but I didn't have much luck growing it. I just didn't get enough sunlight for it to be healthy for very long. I did have a large, low planter full of it for a short time. I put it in the cage, and it was gone in a few minutes

Thanks for the link Piggles love, what a cute kitty. We probably do have something similar here it is just that I have never seen it. Yes, I can understand it taking all that growing time to be decimated in seconds LOL!!

Oscar's been known to chew the newspapers I lay down in his cage under the bedding- since he's eating the edges with no ink, I'm not worried, But, lately, I've caught him eating the bedding itself! Just a mouthful, and he's done.
He's got plenty of hay, and pellets if he wants. Why the bedding?
(Oh, and he is only eating the clean sections.)

Food he likes may have gotten on those spots, but mostly, I think it's boredom. They tend to get distructive when they're bored. I have no idea if I'm right or not. My pigs have all chewed things they weren't supposed to, and with no particular logic, such as where I put the veggies, around the pellet bowl, or any other place that might have food residue they think is food. When that happens, I try to rearrange the cage enough to keep them busy for a while, and it seems to work. Could just be a fluke.

I wonder how he could get bored? He's got access to a pawful of chewable toys at all times.
Oh, well. As long as he keeps himself busy one way or another. At least he shows interest in toys. Murphy only does briefly; I don't think he's touched his Snak Shak log since I gave it to him. Oscar's log does have bite marks on it. Murphy will chew something I give him for a short while, and then ignore it until I remove it from the cage.
I'm still trying various objects suitable to give him.
