Everything is officially ordered so the girls will hopefully all be living together in a brand new cage by the end of next week! My boyfriend and I are probably more excited than the girls will be, but we are okay with that lol

You've caught the cavy cage bug Once you build the first version, you keep coming up with ideas, making changes, expanding up, down, out and generally having a great time trying to find the perfect cage design

We are super addicted to having the girls around. Every day when Alex isn't here he asks me how lap time went, and wishes he could be here. We both love to just sit with them and bond as much as possible. He has stopped thinking my crazy and loves them just as much as I do now! I think we are hooked for life.

I have been using the old towels with fleece overlay method too, its so comfy and dry for the precious piggies.
You have done such an excellent job settling your girls down and making them feel safe and loved. They are really adorable.

Thank you! I really am doing my best to give them a better life. I have just gotten around to looking through the stuff that I got with Luna and they had been feeding her hamster food. I can't believe that for the life of me.

I never cease to be amazed, and often horrified, at how little consideration some people give to their fur babies. If they are just disposable pets, don't get them in the first place. That's not giving them a life! I can just hear them shopping for food, and figuring it's all the same, so what difference does it make I'm so glad they are with you, now, and have a chance to know how good life can be

It took a couple of weeks for my boar (my first piggy) to warm up to me. He was from a rescue and was a lone pig caged separately in a room with several other small animals. Once he adjusted to the stress of a home change he became very friendly, playful and eventually cuddly. He loves having his back rubbed / gently scratched and he adores chin scratches. It did take time and patience though, and just spending lots of time talking to him and sitting by his pen letting him know that I was someone he could trust. Once he began coming to me for bits of carrot we were on the road to a forever friendship. My husband quarantined my girl at his place in Victoria and so she was very social and used to cuddling by the time I got her. But only on her time and her terms...if she doesn't feel like a cuddle she'll go hide and I let her be. Most often 10 minutes later she's squeaking at the fence ready for some attention and love. It will be so interesting with the new babies to see how they grow up having been handled regularly from birth. They're 4 days old now and so sweet. You're doing a great job with these little ones. Its nice to be able to give them a good home, and so wonderful for piggies when they find a special person like you to love them and provide a secure, stable life.

Well, the new cage is set up with Pat and Star in it. I tried to introduce Luna, and it didn't go well at all. All three started fighting and Pat even took some fur off of Luna. I think I might need to keep them separate for good.

I had one girl who just couldn't live with the other pigs. It happens sometimes. If she can live within sight of the others, she's not really alone.

You do sometimes love, no matter what you do certain piggies are never going to like each other. You are doing a great job.

It's nut really Luna. Ours post and star were ganging up on her. I may eventually find a baby buddy for Luna.

If you get a friend for Luna, let her meet a few possible pals at the rescue, and see which one she gets along with the best. Otherwise, you could end up with another pig that doesn't fit into either herd, or that goes better with the other two. You may also eventually try all four girls together in one, very large cage.
