Excellent picture, Baz! First real snow of the year, and the door mat is half under the roof overhang, and half exposed.

Pretty! I nearly took a picture of a red cabbage I was slicing this week - the stem looked so pretty with all the red and white stripes. But I must have got distracted as I didn't do it.
I really need to sort my camera out so it transfers the pictures to my computer wirelessly. It can do it, I've just not managed to get it working as it sticks on the same part each time I try to set it up (not being able to find something or accepting a password, I forget) and I haven't found a solution.

Definitely do, Jo, so you can capture things you want to save, even if just for yourself. We were never much for taking pictures, unless it was something really notable, but since smart phones not only have such good cameras, but at least through Tapatalk, I can load pictures directly from my phone, I've gotten more interested in capturing memories that way.
Bean, I gave up on trying to load the pictures to my computer. Since I can't use Photobucket, and hubby hasn't gotten around to figuring out SmugMug for me, I really don't have a way of sharing photos from the computer.

Cool! Do you know what caused it? Trucks are always making deliveries to our building; I imagine the oil spots came from them. Or possibly our forklift. Either way, I thought it made a more colorful touch to the thread after all those monochromatic shots of metal shavings.

Bringing back this thread- a friend on Instagram recommended we try to do some sets of various still life pictures, and I decided to go in a different direction. I had a great uncle who passed away around 1984 or so - he left me a set of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs (which I still have & read to this day) and a box of paper geometric shapes he'd made as a hobby. I dug them out of storage and took a few pictures that I'll share here.

Love the combination of shape and color! I cannot take any credit for the creations; all the work was done by a man long gone. It'd be interesting to see his reaction at seeing his work living on in an electronic world. Here's another one:

I see a kind of geometric stegosaurus coming towards me at a tilted angle!

I can get that, too, now that you've mentioned it I think he'd be pleased that his work still matters in the digital age
