In response to some queries about what certain board icons mean, we thought we'd start a thread with some info, and where people can ask if there are any icons they're not sure about. When you go into any board, there are folder icons next to the thread titles. These are: Regular thread Thread with over 25 replies (also known as a 'hot topic') The padlock indicates a Locked Thread (closed to further posts) and the exclamation mark indicates the thread is an Announcement (so will appear in a separated section at the top of one or more boards) - these features can be used separately, but I found this image before I found two separate ones! Sticky (which means it's been set to stay at the top of the board regardless of whether anyone's replied to it (which is what usually determines which threads are at the top), but in the same section as all the other threads, unlike an announcement) When you look at the front page of the forum, the pigs indicate which boards have new posts in. No new posts New posts When you go into the front page of that board (where all the thread titles are listed) the threads which have new posts will also have 'new' written by them. Anything else you're wondering about, just shout!

The rosettes and carrots under some people's names relate to the annual Wheekers Awards we used to do every year, with members voting in different categories. It was mostly silly/ fun stuff - most helpful member, wittiest member, best photographer and also best hairdo and most handsome (those were pig categories). It was good fun for a while, and worked well when the board was much busier. But as with many things, a few people got miffed by it, so we stopped doing it a few years ago as it started causing us more headaches than chuckles! We're all winners now, right?!
The star icon is for people who served as Guinea Guides, which we no longer have. These were people who weren't on the staff (moderators or administratorss) but who we felt were particularly helpful and knowledgeable on guinea pig matters, and gave good advice to members.
This board's been going for a while so there have been many changes and I expect there will be loads more in the years ahead - evolve or die!

OK now I understand about the files on fire. I know the awards didn't work but are we aloud to make requests over the website evolving and having new features? I seen on another forum they do a Piggie of the week and its featured on the front page is there any way that would be possible for us to do it could maybe be a vote well as long as people can't vote for themselves.

Suggestions are always welcome!
We used to run a monthly photo contest with voting, but did stop doing it as it was pretty time intensive. I think we moved it down to a seasonal one for a while too, but it's fair to say a few things have fallen by the wayside depending on how busy the forum is and how much spare time people have - both for the members to take photos and for staff to organise the competition. We could certainly run a winter competition of there was demand for it.
3piggles has run a Pig of the Month award too, but we put it on ice a while back. It was awarded to a special pig on the forum - perhaps because of a cute or special story their slave had posted about them, or in recognition of something they'd been through. I'm sure if we have some new pigs around, 3piggles would be happy to resurrect that (I haven't checked with her, just offering up her services anyway!).

I've been hoping to resurrect the Pig of the Month thread. I just wanted enough active members to not be naming the same three or four pigs all the time

Just fiddling about in the settings and have found a setting called 'legend' which when switched on shows you what the icons in each section mean (scroll down to the bottom) - would this be useful to keep on or does it make it cluttered?

I think its pretty useful for newbies it was put on after I figured out what they meant but it will be useful for the new generation of wheekers who join dosent look cluttered to me but than again says the person that wanted to bring pig of the week back ha so I like it what's everyone else think?
