Chinese yam is very tasty and readily available for me. It can be eaten raw unlike other teams. Does anyone know if it's a suitable vegetable for guinea pigs?

I really don't know. This is the Guinealynx fruit/veggie chart, and it does list yam at the very end: www.guinealynx.info/chart.htmlThis is a dangerous foods list from another source, and yams/sweet potatoes are acceptible in very small amounts. Potatoes are not: www.happycavy.com/guinea-pig-dangerous-unsafe-foods/You would have to find out exactly what a Chinese yam is, scientifically, and what a regular yam is, scientifically, and see if they are the same thing. I really don't know.

I'm not sure what a Chinese yam is either! If it's like a sweet potato, I know they can have small quantities of that, but it's not really recommended since it's so sugary.
