Ha! Interesting photo pick! Don't you say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb?

Wow that is lovely Shades sweetie, if only it were real. Yes Baz love, that is a well known saying. Everything crossed Bean love hunni for your poor back.

No, I don't believe I am familiar with that phrase?! (I'm covering myself in case someone's said it to me before and I can't remember it!) It makes sense though!

I hope so. My daffies are out, but it's definitely not feeling like spring yet!

You are right Bean love, it is very cold here too so I can imagine what it is like where you live.

We actually had quite a nice day yesterday - the sun managed to peep through and it was reasonably mild. We went for a nice walk in the park and thought of the nicer weather that will hopefully be on the way in a month or so!
Baz, I think it was this weekend you were moving out for flooring work? Hope it's gone smoothly and it's not too long before your home is your own again!

Today there is a ray of sunshine but the sky is very grey and apparently it isn't very nice out there. We keep getting spurts of hailstones too. Cornwall is known for wet windy weather though, it is one of its drawbacks. We are not doing very well with Timmy I am afraid, I have just phoned the lady who gave him to us and she has given some further advice. It is Lewie all over again and I must admit it is taking the joy out of it. Apparently he wasn't like that with she or her friends which puts it down to the fact that he is picking up on my lack of confidence. I should have known it wouldn't be easy.

Happy March! Yes, Shades, in like a lion, out kike a lamb. Then April showers bring May flowers. I'm not ignoring everyone. I've had a nasty migraine since Friday, and am finally feeling better. I'll get caught up tomorrow

Sorry about your migraine, 3piggles, but glad it's on the way out.
I hope the lady's advice helps bring Timmy round, Jo. I think animals can definitely sense a confident handler and that makes them relax, but it's hard to have that confidence without the positive experience before it.
Is there any way you could go and spend a little time with someone who also has them and can help you handle them and get your confidence up a bit?

Oh sweetie, I hope you are feeling better now. Thank you Bean hunni, we had him out last night and he was running all over Paul and being stroked by us both and very little huffing. Let's see tonight when he is sat on me if he really has come around or maybe it is just me he doesn't like. Yes you are right, animals sense when you are nervous. There is no one near here alas Bean love but it is a brilliant suggestion.

Aww I'm glad he's relaxing a bit more in your house, and I'm sure he'll come round - he'd be mad not to love you! Just keep on trying and try not to feel like it's anything personal, it couldn't be at this stage. He just needs to feel secure, like you do, and while you're getting to know each other, that'll be hard for you both. I'm sure it will work out with a bit of patience.

Thank you Bean hunni, that is a really lovely post. Last night he was fine with Paul and once Paul passed him over he started huffing. Well, you can imagine how that made me feel. He did go to sleep on me but started huffing when he woke up again. I think you are right, I have to stop taking it personally.

Aww I'm sorry you got huffed at. It does sound like he's picking up on your worries about him being happy and relaxed around you, so just try to ride it out until you start feeling more relaxed. Surely him going to sleep on you is a good sign? There's certainly no reason for him not to like you so it can't possibly be personal - animals are just sensitive to moods.
What do hedgehogs like that you could bribe him with while he's with you?! Or are they more complicated that guinea pigs!

I responded to the huffing, in the Pet Parade thread. I agree with Bean that he's picking up on your stress. Just relax, and let him get used to you Spring is definitely on the way. Days are getting longer. Most precipitation is rain instead of snow. I didn't get to plant any spring flowers, but I definitely will. I love the first flowers of spring, Daffodils and Tulips, Crocuses, etc. My Easter lilies are definitely coming back to life. I already have one blossom, and there should be a lot more to come. The potted mint has also come back. Both die off during the winter, probably from a lack of light. Definite signs of spring I was reading about using epsom salt to improve plant health, produce more flowers and improve the taste of fruits and veggies. I'm going to put some around the plants we've already planted in the front garden, once the weather gets warm, just to give them a boost. We'll also use it for our veggie plants and whatever else we plant this year. It's a cheap way to feed the plants.

Thank you Bean hunni and I think you ladies are both right. I have to stop taking it personally and try and relax. I had a chat with his other mum last night and she says the same. Apparently they are very sensitive souls and are quick to pick up on any negativity. It is so hard to feel positive though when he is huffing and biting. I have tried bribing him Bean love but he refuses to take the food. I wish spring were on its way here Piggles sweetie, today is wet and miserable. I am not sure if they are more complicated than guinea piggies but I have only had nervous piggies in the past, not aggressive ones.

Don't feel badly, Jo. It was cold and rainy yesterday, rainy this morning, and now warm and sunny. Temps are heading back down to freezing or below by the end of the week, with possible snow on Saturday. Still, the days are longer. The high temps are higher, and so are the low temps. Spring will come I'm glad you got to talk to his other mom, and learn more about hedgies

Quick update- my computer is acting up, and I'm spending whatever time I have researching how to fix the issues, if I can. Don't worry, I'm not quitting. (I'll be replying & participating whenever I can- my computer is very erratic and unpredictable right now.)
