Facebook has been full of Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit comments, so guess what, we've just started another months. Happy June, everyone We're off to a cooler than usual start, or cooler than has been usual in about a decade. Used to be that May was hot, then June was cool. July and August are always hot. Then May was hot, and it stayed hot, sometimes until October. I love this weather. I bit hot for me right now, as it's almost 80 for the day, but it will be back in the 60s tomorrow. All the plants we planted are looking great, so they are enjoying a chance to keep their feet wet, stay warm enough, and get some bright sun between rains. I hope everyone has a great June 1

Off-topic, but I'm having a great time right now- I'm off emergency call for two whole months. For those unfamiliar with this routine, imagine working a full eight hour day of manual labor, going home and having to turn right around and go back to work for an unspecified amount of time. Or, turning in for the night and being in bed no more than ten minutes and then having to abruptly get up and go into work for an unspecified amount of time. On weekends, imagine yourself driving in and out of the city two to three times in one day. The overtime pay is irrelevant; I'd rather have the time instead. That said, this is me for the next 60 days:

Haha! I can well imagine your relief, despite never having had a job that could require me to be called back out to work anything but very rarely - it must really affect how much you can switch off when you get home. Enjoy!
I've been good at remembering to water my seedlings so far - being out enjoying the sun in the garden most days helps with that!

I am glad things are not as hot for you Piggles love as I know like me, you detest the heat. Wow Baz hunni, you really look happy there. You enjoy your two months. It is overcast here today bean love but too warm, for me anyway.

Excellent, Baz! You finally have your life back to yourself, again I've worked those jobs, too, and so has hubby, so we totally understand. It's been nice walking weather. We've been having sun, rain, sun again, or just some overcast skies that go sunny again. This is New England, so it won't last, but I'm enjoying it while I can. Not to hot at all, Jo, and I'm really enjoying that! Ooh, I'm sure your seedlings thank you, Bean. They tend to like getting watered We're considering getting soaker hoses for the raised planting beds, if the weather turns hot and dry.

Wow Baz hunni, you really look happy there. You enjoy your two months. I'm way too self-conscious to have a shirtless picture of me floating around on the internet- that's Tim Robbins from the movie The Shawshank Redemption, although I can totally see the resemblance.

He looks very much like you Baz love and Shawshank Redemption was a great film. It is much cooler here today Piggles hunni I am glad to say, very wet and overcast. Dreadful for June mind you but the less hot days I have to endure the better lol!

The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favourite films too - I'm sure I'll think of you next time I watch it, Baz!

I am 60 very soon, not good!! Still looking for piggies but I have been so unsuccessful with rescues which I found strange as there are many piggies out there looking for a loving home. I am a bit stuck at the moment but do not want to still be piggiless after my birthday.

Jo it will happen when you least expect it. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
I'm feeling so excited for the new place. I got paint shopping tomorrow. I love teal! It wont be all the walls, just an accent wall and the cupboards with browns, burnt orange and purple colours popping up on random items (like for example my table is gonna be redone so the top is brown with burnt orange legs). I'm super excited because unlike this place I can design in however I want because as the boyfriend says, I'll be the one in it most of the time LOL.
The other thing I'm looking forward to is building next years garden. Sadly I have to leave mine and can't garden much this year but the prospect of next years has me all excited. We are thinking about a 10 foot by 5 foot U shaped raised veggie garden. My new landlords suggested putting a raised tomato garden by the front door, which is great idea! (they are amazing people btw).

Thanks CC love, I have found a rescue in Devon that I may try. I do so miss the piggie cuddles and the wheeks. Good luck with the decorating, it is nice to know you have a free hand and can please yourself.

I wish I could lend you Cadders if you like the wheeks, Jo - he seems to be getting louder every day! The other day all the pigs were out in runs right at the bottom of the garden. I dropped a knife in the kitchen, and it wasn't even that loud, but straight away I could hear Cadders start wheeking his heart out hoping to be remembered while something was being chopped (never mind all the grass in front of him!). He started all the others off too, and they looked so funny running round the run waiting for me to appear! But he's so much louder that you know when it's him!
Happy paint shopping, Robin! Your ideas sound great - I always play it too safe, I think it's a hangover from years of renting where I'd think I didn't want to do anything that I'd have to make fairly neutral again before we left! It makes such a difference when you really make your home your own though. I think my tastes are probably quite light and clean in terms of walls though, and I stamp my mark with the pictures and fabrics.

We did raised veggie beds this year, and potatoes in bags. Not at all sure how they'll do! We used treated lumber for building decks. They don't have arsenic in them anymore, so they are safe for raised planter beds. I hope you get a great garden going again, next year. For this summer, you're going to be really busy with the new house. We moved a year ago, and I'm still getting things sorted.
Cold here, too, Jo. Not getting out of the 50sF tomorrow, but by Sunday it could be in the 80s, and there are 90s in the 10-day forecast. I'm loving the cold, but I know I can't expect it to last too much longer.

At the moment I would love to hear Wheeks Bean love, but I don't know how I would feel if I had a continual wheeker lol! It is like winter here at the moment Piggles hunni, blowing a hooley and raining as we speak. This is just crazy for June but I am grateful for the cooler weather.

Haha! Cadders has plenty of quiet times too, but he obviously has certain triggers where he thinks there's an opportunity to draw people in and exploit any chance to get an extra titbit (even though we rarely give anything to them out of mealtimes). If you talk back to him he replies in wheeks, it's quite funny! His wife, Pops, is very quiet, but she always stands by his side when he's wheeking, waiting to see what the fuss is about!

Oh Bean hunni, I would love to see a video of you talking to Cadders, it sounds adorable. Perhaps he talks for his wife or maybe she thinks he makes enough noise for the two of them Hugs Jo xx

I've heard stories from friends in that storm, Jo. I guess it was a wild one! I hope you managed to stay dry! I've had talkers, and also nontalkers. I think you're right, Jo, that sometimes one does all the talking because the others don't want to. If one can do it all, why not let that one do it. My LG had THE VOICE of that group. Momma was the matriarch and dominant pig, and almost never talked. Molly was a sickly sweetheart, who pretty much liked anything good that came her way. So LG did all the talking, and she was loud! I train my pigs right off that wheeking does not get them treats. Especially now that they are in the dining room right in the middle of everything, if I go out to get a snack in the middle of the night, and they started wheeking, it would wake hubby. No need for that. If they don't wheek, even if they dance all over the edge of the cage, they generally get treats. I give them treats when they don't ask, and are surprised to get them, so they know they aren't losing out on anything. Meal times are hardest for them, because they know their meal is coming, and it can never come quickly enough

I think Pops is happy to let Cads do all the talking, but she always appears right by his side whenever he does pipe up. It's always directed at people, but maybe he is singing a song for her to get her to snuggle up to him! I'm really lucky with how the pairings worked out with the boys getting wives as the personalities of both pairs are so well matched. And seeing Cads so relaxed is the best thing as he was just always a bit on edge with Josh.
We've had awful weather here overnight and today, so much stuff in the garden has been blown over. It was dry this afternoon so I put my washing out (pegged on x 10) and it was practically blowing up vertically! Dried in super quick time though.

Yes I was fine piggles love but a friend had a greenhouse destroyed. There were pretty powerful winds. I think it is the same with children, sometimes one will talk for the other especially between brothers and sisters. I am afraid my piggies used to wheek when they heard a rustle and U must admit IU am looking forward to hearing it again.
Maybe he is serenading her Bean hunni which I think is really sweet. Weather is really dreadful here too Bean love, it is more like November than June. It is true I don't like the heat but I have had enough of this rain even though it does make me feel cosy.

Oh I love the wheeking when I'm getting their food ready too! I mostly stopped feeding them random titbits as otherwise they'd regularly drown out the music/ tv throughout the day. But when it's their time, I really love to hear the excited singing as I'm chopping veg! It was unusual for Cads to start a full chorus when they were out in the run, although they do always get excited when I walk past and trot along the side of the run as I walk past - it adds a bit of cuteness when I'm getting something boring from the shed!
They never make any noise at night, even if I come down and switch the lights on. So that's good. Also, I usually come down for a cuppa first thing, but never feed them right away, so they always ignore me then too! The next time someone comes in is when they start getting hopeful (although they totally ignore my husband as he never feeds them!).
I've just been out in the rain to vote and will now avoid the tv for the rest of the day as it'll drive me nuts hearing everyone analysing and guessing what will happen!
