And to think it used to snow in England, back in Victorian times. Pretty as it was then, people had drafty houses, poorly made clothing and other things that made getting through the cold of winter a real hardship. Too bad your climate warmed up just enough to stop most of the snow. We're supposed to get plowable snow by the middle of next week. We're starting a cold spell, with temps in the 30s and 20sF, so perfect conditions for snow. How long it will last, I don't know. We will park the cars in the neighbors carport, and the ladies across the street will have a fabulous time ratting us out to the neighbors who said we could use the carport The idea was to protect our cars, since we're going to clear the snow from their driveway and walk, anyway. Yes, salt does terrible things to cars, but without it, the ice takes over on the roads, so it's important to use where we can. There are chemicals that are supposed to stop the ice from forming, but I haven't seen them being very effective. The roads and sidewalks(where we have them) are usually treated with the chemicals before a major storm. Hubby wants to try it here, so I'll order some, but I don't think it will work. Winter snow without having to shovel sounds too good to be true.

I love Victorian Christmas cards Piggles love but it was only lovely on the surface as you say. I said when I was about six how wonderful a Victorian Christmas would have been and my mother said: "Yes if you had the money" which is very true. Very cold here today, so maybe we will see some snow.

The temp was -5F when I got up this morning, felt like -12. The temp started climbing, once the sun finally made it over the berm in the backyard, and after more than 90 minutes, it's up to a whopping 1F Still feels like -4, but at least the sun is shining The 10 day forecast this morning included Christmas Eve day. A reminder that Christmas is approaching quickly! According to the forecast, we could get some snow on Christmas Eve day, so a white Christmas is very possible

Same here, but feels like 21F. It got up to 31F, so we flirted with freezing. Colder tomorrow, then warmer Monday and Tuesday.

The snow is missing us right now, and going out to sea. I'm in New England, so Cape Cod and the islands are getting snow, but we're not. More snow next week, possibly some Monday into Tuesday, and some next weekend, Christmas Eve day. Not sure if any of that will amount to much. Monday/Tuesday we'll have temps above freezing, and might even reach 40 briefly, before the temp starts back down. Stay warm

You stay warm too. Now it says little to no accumulation of snow of snow and ice.

We got a bit of light, fluffy snow last night, just a dusting. Today the wind is blowing it around so it looks like a blizzard It was 0F when I got up this morning, but it's up to about 23F, now, so not too bad when the wind isn't blowing We could be high 40sF by Tuesday!

Still no snow here I'm afraid but it is getting colder by the day. The sun is out which is nice but I have been told it is bitterly cold.

Oh dear Bitterly cold isn't fun, at all. We get the Polar vortexes during the winter, when our temps drop below 0F, and stay there for days at a time, but we don't always get them. One year the temp dropped to -20F. Hubby tried to start the car, and snapped the cam shaft! That was an expensive oops! It was snowing this morning, so there's a fresh coating on all the tree branches. The nice thing about having evergreen trees is that they hold the snow longer, and look as if someone frosted the boughs with vanilla frosting Don't know if it's still snowing, as sometimes the flakes are so fine, I have to look hard to see them. We're going to have temps in the 40sF, tomorrow, so hopefully the streets will thaw and be clear, but the rest of the snow will remain Another above freezing day Wednesday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's been proven that a good blanket of snow on the ground helps keep the flu virus away, so another reason to love snow

Bizarrely, our weather here is quite mild- almost 50 degrees Fahrenheit and misty rain, with sun coming out later in the day. They say snow is coming by Christmas, so I'll enjoy not having to shovel & spread salt everywhere for a few more days.

I didn't know that Piggles love about the covering of snow preventing flu. I have had a flu vaccination this year and so far tou8ch wood, I have been OK. That is one of the downsides of snow Baz hunni, keeping paths clear and safe so no one goes base over apex lol!

It seems to be a proven fact, Jo, though I'm not really sure what about having snow on the ground stops the flu virus. Even doctors say we'll have a really bad flu season, if we don't get enough snow to put a solid blanket on everything. It snowed all day yesterday, and looked so pretty. Now, with temps up to 40 for most of the day, everything except the lawns has thawed. We have a chance of rain, and if you're gettin rain, we'll get it, too. Unless there's a stronger front coming from someplace else. We often get your rain, and the cold from Montreal, and get snow, instead. I think Friday/Saturday are supposed to be messy, and Monday so travel might be a bit tricky on Christmas day. Hubby can totally relate to not having to get out and clear/salt after the snow, and he doesn't have apartment complexes to service! Got the last of the gifts delivered, so I don't have to pop up every time I hear a truck outside, so I can get them to put it in the livingroom for me.

Got the last of the gifts delivered, so I don't have to pop up every time I hear a truck outside, so I can get them to put it in the livingroom for me. We've been having a problem at our buildings where delivery trucks are dropping off boxes to the wrong addresses. Sometimes it's easy if the box just needs to go next door. Other times it's a few blocks away and we need to find time to run the things over. Either way, my boss and I have our hands full trying to do our good deeds for the day in addition to our regular workload. I don't see why there's a problem; the addresses are clearly marked. Someone obviously isn't paying attention to details.

I am pleased to hear that all your pressies are now given out Piggles love, I used to love giving presents. That is silly Baz love, you shouldn't be running around like that doing the post office's job for them. It sounds as if someone wants a kick up the backside!!

Ugh! Since delivery services are paid to do nothing but deliver, it seems as if they should be able to do that one job right. I can understand if they mistook East Main Street for West Main Street. That's done back at the depot, by the people processing the packages, so if everything is loaded in the order it should be delivered, a delivery person in a hurry probably wouldn't check the address very carefully. Doesn't help when you have to redeliver them to the correct addresses. No use calling the delivery services, explaining the problems, and asking them to take more care? Probably not. I got my gifts wrapped. I didn't have a lot of them, but some were big and bulky, so hard to wrap. I have the chocolate bark in the fridge, which I'll get out when we're ready for it. I keep my house cold, but not fridge cold We still haven't gotten your rain, Baz, but if nothing gets in the way, it usually takes a couple of days for your weather to arrive here. Snow Friday, Rain Saturday, snow Monday. I feel badly for the people who have to keep the roads clear on Monday.

I don't know what it's like there, but there are so many different delivery companies now, and loads using freelance drivers (basically anyone with a car) that things definitely aren't as slick as they once were!
That's good of you and your boss to make sure the right people get their post, Baz, but annoying that it should be taking up your time when you have plenty else to do!
Our temperatures have become a little milder, so it's nice not to have to worry about slipping over so much!

There has been a bit of a problem here too hunni, as the authorities have decided to name a new street here Pendragon Place so there has been a bit of a mix-up. No excuse though and I was very angry the couple of times our post has gone astray, there is still no excuse for it. That is true Bean sweetie, I have had deliveries of a couple of things and they have arrived in unmarked cars so I think some companies are using freelance drivers as you say.
