I'm glad his vegie burgers worked. I made black bean burgers once, and while they tasted okay, they wouldn't stay together on the grill. Probably would have been better as meatballs Falafel burgers are a definite option for me, but hubby would never eat them, so have to kill a cow anyway! Glad the bbq was a success. Your food options sound fabulous! I doubt anyone wanted for anything in that meal My perfect grilling station would be under a canopy that had fans to move the air around, when it was really hot outside. Not going to happen, but it would be great. Hubby loves heat, so he toils over the grill, while I stay in the a/c and fix the rest of the meal. I finally have a freezer where I can sort out the meats, so I know what we have to grill, and we should be able to do that most of the week, if hubby doesn't work late to make up his missed time. It would also have to be on the porch, as I can't carry food, or anything, up and down the stairs. Bean, the houses come with all the plumbing and electrical run. Both have to be hooked up to a source, and drains have to be hooked to a source. The electrical, water, sewer and drain are all in place under the house. The shipping wheels/axels will be removed, a white skirting will be installed all around the area under the house, which is all available for storage, stairs will be installed or built, all of the faucets, etc., will be tested to make sure they all work, and the house will be ready for the owners. The park owners will put dirt and grass seed down, but it's lousy dirt and worse grass seed, so making a nice lawn is up to us. Eventually the driveway and walk will be paved. The park owners usually wait until all the latest houses are in, then have all the drives and walks paved at the same time. We had ours done once the other new home was ready to have it done. I thought you might find it interesting what the house is like, two halves that go together, and the way the end was open, it really showed that

The new house was put together today. It's a color we don't have anywhere else in the neighborhood, so it really stands out. The two parts of the house are together, but there's still a lot to do before the owners can move in. This is really fascinating. I've never experienced such type of houses. Do you have time-lapse photos to show how it was before and how it was put together?

I have been before and after photos Shades hunni but mostly taken by the people who are going to live in the house which is being built. Friends of ours who own an animal sanctuary took photos of it over the years and it is fascinating to see how it has changed.

Oh I like the idea of a plug in house!
Photos showing change are great.
Someone sent me a link to photos of our area from over the years - some going back hundreds of years. It was so interesting looking through them all and seeing what had changed (lots!), and what hasn't (the pubs and churches!).
Even the photos we've taken before and after house and garden projects are fun to look at - it's so easy to forget what things looked like.

I think I posted one on this or another thread, not of this house, but of a modular house being brought in and assembled on site. Modular homes are mode much stronger than stick built houses, so they survive the trip and assembly. The one we had two houses ago came in 4 piece, two lower and two upper, which had to be put on the foundation and then the top front and back put on the bottom front and back, with a huge crane. Since each piece of the house(in this case front and back) is built at the factor, everything is included, flooring, plumbing, wiring, etc. Instead of doing all of that on site. Also, the houses are made of panels of specific sizes, so each house use one of these, three of those, etc., That means a lot of house can be made in advance, and stored until needed. Very low cost per square foot, which is great. The roof is all finished, the skirting is on, and the siding is on the gable ends, so it's all buttoned up from the outside. Wiring will be hooked up to the breaker panel, steps will be installed for the front and side doors, a yard light will be installed(they are all the same. Must look like landing strips from the sky, lol The people will move in before the yard is finished or the paving is done, but the house will be completely livable after about 5 days of work.

I love to reminisce Bean sweetie so I love photos of the past and seeing how things have changed. I remember a book I had as a child showed a map of London Zoo. I bet it as changed so much since then, it wouldn't be recognisable.
That sounds wonderful Piggles hunni, I wish I could move into somewhere nice. They sound ideal for Paul and I. I hope the new people are nice too.

You would love these homes, Jo. Even the very small ones have the open concept, so getting around with a walker isn't a problem. There's space for a wheelchair ramp, so getting in and out of the house is no problem. It's a quiet community, so it's safe to be out on the street riding a bike or whatever, as no one is going to hit you or run you down. There's space outside for a run for Holly, so she can enjoy some safe outdoor time, and it's far enough removed from places to get a drink or play pool, that Paul would have to actually find things to do around the house, lol No going across the road here I have a friend who lives in a town on the English Channel, and she lives in what's basically a caravan park. Not like a campground, where people tow their campers in and out, but where the campers stay, and people rent or buy them. Each one has a small yard, and it seems to be a quiet place. Too bad there aren't any places like that around you, Jo. I know she doesn't have a ton of money, and spends what she has on her bicycle, and on working the Tour de France. I don't know if she even has a job, of if she works for one of the companies that sponsors a rider in the Tour. You probably wouldn't get Paul to move to either place, though, as he'd have to at least get outside and visit with the neighbors, if not mow the lawn. I also wouldn't mind living in a tiny house community, if it were just the piggies and me. Mine would have to be all on one level, that would give me the lofts for storage I don't use all the time. tinyhouselistings.com/countries/united-states/states/new-hampshire Hehehe, some of these are smaller than my shed

It sounds wonderful Piggles hunni, perfect in fact. Even the small ones would be a lot bigger than the place we are living in now but hey, it is just a dream. That would be great for Paul too and as you say, no excuse for going across the road all the time. I know the static homes you speak of Piggles hunni and I would love one. We do have them here and people who live in them have even fenced a bit of garden off outside the caravans which makes it look so homely and cosy. I don't think we would be able to afford one of these however and with some of them, you have to vacate for two months of the year for maintenance and repairs to the whole of the site. They are beautiful inside and if it were remotely possible, we would go for it.
Those places look ideal Piggles hunni and thank you for showing them to me. Indeed they are very similar to the ones we have here. If something wonderful happens for us in the future, a little home like this would be a possibility and I would love it.

You never know until you check on the cost of rents, park rules, closures, etc. Here in New England we have laws in some towns forbidding year round occupancy of trailers/caravans parked in those campsites. That's because people will live there, use it as a permanent address, pay less to register vehicles, etc., and less in taxes, which most towns don't want. Here, there are two campgrounds that stay open year round, so this town obviously doesn't have those restrictions. Might even take you two away from all the bad memories, his not too helpful friends, etc., and give you a fresh start. Figure whatever your rent is now, you can do that much or less. You never know until you look into it. Tiny homes are great for some people, but for you and me, not being able to walk or do stairs very well, I think they'd be a stretch. There are some that are all on one level, but those are usually more, because the footprint is larger. Less expensive to have a small footprint, and go up two or three stories. Also, tiny houses and caravan parks are expensive in expensive areas, and inexpensive in inexpensive areas. So location counts for a lot. I don't know where the decent inexpensive areas are in England, but I'm sure there are some. Furthest from the cities and things to do, usually. Got some rain moving in around noon through about 8 a.m. tomorrow morning, so all the plants should get watered. Had enough of a chill overnight a couple of nights ago to kill my ailing foliage plant, but that's okay. I've been struggling to get that thing to grow for years. Always stayed alive, but accomplished very little. Gone now! Got some more bulbs planted in the front garden, and we'll get some more in a bit, just to even off the plantings. Since we can't seem to get much to grow very excitedly, in the front garden, I'm trying bulbs that bloom at different times of the growing season. Day lilies, definitely. Have to get some

There is one which is about a half an hou8r's drive from us Piggles love, which we pass on our way to Plymouth and it looks lovely. Quite honestly though because I have so much debt, I don't think I would be able to but anywhere like that until or indeed if it is ever paid off, which is a matter of some serious doubt. I will look into it though but it is so unlikely, I wish I could say that it is an option for us I really do. The thought of living here for the rest of my life does it make me happy in the least.
