Hello everyone!
I'm Kaila and I've been on GuineaLynx and GuineaPigCages Forums for a few years, but have decided to branch out to other forums to meet new people and share information and my love for guineapigs with others (from all over the world!). I have two piggies: Charlotte and Jitterbug.
They were both brought in from a local Petsmart in our area. Jitterbug was the first guinea pig I decided to "adopt". I had besically become absessed with them for many years before I was able to get one. She was being tossed in a box roughly and taken into the back room before I intervened the employee handling her. He claimed she had a genetic problem from the breeder and they needed to "return her". I knew after thorough research pet store don't just "return" pigs. They usually put them down or sell them back to the breeder who will either sell them as snake food or breed them as well. Both are terrible in my opinion. So I told her I'd take her and after some subtle arguements they agreed to let me. I decided to see if the other two sows she was housed with were bonded with her. One sow proceeded to bite her and when she ran the second, who became known as Charlotte cuddled with her in the corner. Charlotte was "bought" although she was on sale because they decided to stop selling sows and I was worried somebody might buy her for snake food. She seemed off compared to the other pigs as well and I wanted to make sure she went to a good home who would care for her. So I took them home, cage already set up. They were happy, but Charlotte kept getting fatter, kind of pear shaped and Jitterbug became really muscular and a good bit larger than her sister. I found out Charlotte was pregnant and Jitterbug was part Cuy. Charlottes babies found a new home and both of my original pigs are still in my care.
That's the short version of story of Jitterbug and Charlotte! They are only 1 and 1/2 years old. I hope I have much more time with them and I can't wait to meet everyone on here and help them in any way I can!
