We're getting hot and humid today. It's okay, though, as it's still 20 degrees cooler than when it got hot and humid this past summer. We might get some thunder storms through this afternoon, then the cooler, dryer weather returns again. This weekend, when our granddaughter is here, should have great weather Enjoy the cooler weather, Jo. I am It's also that change over time when the flowers are starting to die off, the veggies are out of the garden, and Autumn decorations start showing up everywhere. I don't know if we still have our burlap people, and hubby tossed the corn stalks, so we would need to be more of those. I think we have a string of leaves to wrap around the light post. I'm wondering if I can find an orange light bulb to put in the front yard light, to look more fall-like. I'm definitely getting into the whole Fall-cool weather, and dryer air.

I am enjoying it Piggles love but I heard on the news last night that we are in for a warm spell. I keep telling myself that at this time of year it cannot get really hot but our weather is a law unto itself. I too love to see the colours of autumn that is if I manage to go out of course. I love the reds and golds, to me they are a preview to Christmas.

The red/gold combination is one of my favorites, and Christmas seems to be when it's everywhere! I do love it, and it's the theme on my Christmas tree I know about weather being a law unto itself. First windows open for the fresh cool air, then hubby puts on the heat, then I put on the a/c. Now we're back to a bit of a/c, but by tomorrow, we're having a cooler day. Then the weekend should be mild, not too hot or too cold. I just love roller coaster weather

What a lovely theme for a Christmas tree Piggles hunni. I love lots of reds and golds in my house too. It is sunny here at the moment but there is a chill in the air. It is Paul's birthday tomorrow and I cannot believe we are nearly in October.
Sorry Bean hunni, you must excuse us. It is me leading Piggles astray. I just have to talk about Christmas sometimes as it is a great comfort to me.

We're not talking about Christmas. We're talking about colors, financing, and other things. They just happen to include Christmas, like talking about saving money so I can make extra foods for Christmas. Totally not about Christmas, and totally about money, lol Today started out cold and rainy, but the rain stopped, and the sun burned through in early afternoon, and it's turned into a beautiful day. I'm off to enjoy it while I can

Haha, you're not fooling anyone 3piggles! And look at Jo, taking the fall for you too, but I won't let up on trying to bring you under my control until after Thanksgiving! *cracks whip*
Are you doing anything special for Paul's birthday, Jo? I hope there's cake involved!
We seem to be having a lovely few sunny and mild days. I do love the sunshine, it makes everything look nicer!

Off topic, but I found a spider in my basement toilet literally standing on the water! I have a dehumidifier that I empty daily, and when I went down to take care of it and spill the water in the sink, I noticed him there. No sad endings here- I grabbed a mason jar and scooped him up, and set him free outside. He was a little water logged, but I watched him crawl away in the grass.
Back at my old job I always left spiders alone in the lobbies, even though I was told to remove them. During my final two weeks, they were having an inspection and I was told to clean out all the bugs in the rooftop elevator room. When I went up there. it was all spiders and no bugs. Reluctantly I took everything down, trying to not squash anybody. Annoyingly, when I went back a week later, the room was filled with regular bugs, because there were no more spiders left to kill them!
I've run across an occasional spider at my new workplace; I leave them alone.

Haha, that is great Piggles love and you are right. At this time of year, one cannot help thinking about the C-word LOL! I can feel the crack of that whip from here Bean sweetie. No, we didn't do anything special love but he has bought a cake. I would really love a piece but it hasn't been started yet and I didn't want to look like a fat greedy pig LOL!
Thank you for saving the dear little spiddy Baz hunni, how people can hurt them, something so defenseless and cute is beyond me? I can well believe that happened, spiders are very useful to have around and I don't think most people realise this. I share my bedroom with loads of them and their offspring too, it is delightful.

I like to trap and release any bugs, if possible, even wasps. As much as I may not want them in my house, as you said, Baz, the spiders are keeping the other bugs away. We're heading into lady bug season, when they start massing on the sides of houses in the sun, and trying to get inside to the warmth, through any opening possible. I just scoop them up and put them outside, but I know they want survive in the cold of late Autumn, so I always feel a bit badly about tossing them out to their doom. They are destructive indoors, though, so can't be allowed to stay I'm glad you take care of the spiders, Baz

I don't like to kill anything Piggle slove, they are all entitled to their little lives but obviously there I would rather have some visitors than others. I love ladybugs but they can bite. I remember holding them as a child and feeling quite a sharp pain. I didn't stop me from picking them up though. They are a gardener's friend I believe. Hugs JO xx

Aw, that's too bad that your lady bugs bite. Ours aren't a species that bite, so we can carry them around with no problem. I love lady bugs, but not when they're trying to get into the house by the thousands.
Hubby bought some insecticidal soap to spray all the plants that will be moved inside for the winter. We get tiny flies, sometimes large groups of them, coming out of the plants, once they're inside, so we're going to try killing the flies first. Fingers crossed. I wouldn't do it if they were staying outside, but having tiny flies getting in my face, between my glasses and my eyes, etc., is not acceptable. Otherwise, I try to kill as few things as possible.

You can just feel a little sting on your hand sometimes which indicates how painful their bite could be if they were a lot bigger. They are of the beetle family and I think they are so cute despite their nipping lol! don't like killing things either unless they are a real threat.

I've heard they can occasionally give a little nip, but have never experienced it either. At certain times of year, we get a lot coming into the house too (especially hiding in washing!), so they've had plenty of chances with me!
But yes, they love to eat greenfly so are definitely a gardener's friend!

To eat the green flies, they need to stay outside I keep telling them that, but they don't listen
