Good work Shades!
This summer has certainly gone quickly. We've been away for the last week, so I'm quite disorientated and am glad we have the weekend to anchor ourselves in where/ when we are!

Still don't have reliable internet, and even Tapatalk is acting up. Not all of the forums are appearing on Tapatalk. I'm replying to the forums that do appear, but that's all I can do for now.

Hope we have you back with us, 3piggles!
Oh it's gone really chilly here - summer is definitely over! My parents just got back from their holiday abroad and had quite a shock at how much cooler it's become!

I think I'm back I'm also doing Wheekers on Bing/Explorer, instead of Chrome. I will try it on Chrome, again, but for now, since this is working, I'm going to use Bing. It's been cool here, too, with overnight frost in the north country. Warmer weather arriving tomorrow, but still no 90s and 100sF. I have so totally had enough of that. Rain started about an hour ago, but I had already ridden my indoor bike, so I didn't need to get outside. We rode morning and evening the last two days, and it was definitely coat and hat weather, when we added the wind chill factor of biking 10 mph. Your poor parents, returning to the cold weather. I hope they got their heat going, and thawed out enough to face Monday It's never fun to come home from great weather to chilly weather.

Glad you've found something that works to get you online!
I've quite fancied a Tiffany lamp for some years, although I've never even spent a fifth of what they cost on a lamp before, so it's never been more than an idea. I looked them up yesterday for some reason, so now the banner ad at the top is a very pretty display of Tiffany lamps. Rather than making me want to buy one, it's making me think I'm getting the benefit without having bought one?

It is getting much cooler isn't it Bean sweetie but I am not complaining as this is my favourite time of year (the last 4 months are anyway)? I am glad you are back with us too Piggles hunni. I have just had a new lamp for my bedroom as the other one died. It is very pretty silver with a crystal base. I will have to look up Tiffany lamps. I have heard of them but wouldn't recognise one.

I should specify that I'm not talking about buying an original Tiffany lamp, just one of the Tiffany-style lamps that are made! They have pretty and often colourful glass shades. There are all sorts of different designs, but this is one.

We have 2 Tiffany-style lamps. They're in hubby's room. We had them in the living room for a while, but they were too low to use as reading lamps, so they became bedside lamps. Ours were really inexpensive, plastic lampshades instead of glass, and probably plastic base, too. I hope, if you ever decide to actually buy one, you find one you really like It's been cooler here, too, but that's about to change. We could see 80F for a high the next few days, but getting into the 60s overnight. I'll have hubby take the delicate plant back outside, so it can get the warmer days. Our veggie garden is pretty much done for the season. I plant flowers with the veggies, so those are still going strong, and will for another month. So we'll still have something to look at in the raised planters. Jo, I saw a great idea for making bee and other insect houses. Just take a piece of wood(it can be a board or a log),drill holes about 1/2" wide and 5" deep, and the bees will take up residence. I'll have hubby make me some over the winter, so we can get them out first thing in the Spring, and give the bees a chance to get a strong start I never got around to buying the bee house, as it was just another expense, and I try not to keep spending even a little here and a little there. There were always more important things to buy. Now we can make our own. I also got to thinking about the one I planned to buy. It was basically bamboo tubes glued together in a holder. We could also do that, and it would look even better than holes drilled in a board. I think hubby will enjoy a little project like that He's also going to get the plastic to make the raised planters into mini greenhouses, so we can get a jump on the spring planting next year. It's become HIS garden, lol, which is fine with me

The DIY insect houses are great. We were going to make an insect hotel this summer using bits and pieces around the garden, but didn't get round to it.
Oh get you two, already thinking of the next growing season - now that's a sign of proper gardeners!

That is a beautiful lamp Bean sweetie, I would love one. Thanks for the tip Piggles hunni, I would love a bee/insect box for next year as we have quite a few bees buzzing around a bush we have in the garden. It would be nice to give them somewhere where they can go and have a cup of bee tea LOL!

We've started a lot of aspects of the gardens, but not finished them, so once hubby retires, finishing the jobs will be a priority. The gardening jobs will wait until next year, but he has a lot of landscaping jobs to finish before winter. I'd like to make the insect houses to keep the bees around the garden, though the Borage plant did a great job of that. It was just so big, it took over half of one raised planter, and we need that space for other plants. I may try planting it in one of the really big pots, so we can have it near the garden, but not taking over a planter. Yes, we're already thinking about Spring. This year I have to get the seeds started, and not try to cut any corners. Since hubby is putting up the plastic this Spring, we'll be able to just roll it down and secure it when it's going to be cold, and raise it to let in the warmth. That should get the young plants off to a great start
