update guys! I saw him again today, but the visit was shorter than most, because the owners had a show to do. He looks like a completely different bird now. We had to do step up practice from his cage to get him ready to come home, and I received that the baby will be coming home the Friday coming up. He's mine. He was a bit cranky today, which is understandable because we all have bad days. So most of the time was spent listening to the Beatles: the song called Two of us and another song that really identified the entire situation and he loved it, got a few head bobs from him, called Home by Phillip Phillips:
I can't stress how much he has improved since we have started this process with him, and I actually begin to tear up thinking about it all. Sounds really strange bit he truly is a Cinderella story. When I first met him, he never held his head high, his feathers were disarrayed and depressed, he had a plucking issue ... And here is proof of what love can do to a shelter/ sanctuary animal. If this doesn't somehow encourage people to adopt and not shop then there is no hope for that person. He even stopped plucking and his posture has changed drastcally Before: Today, after almost a month of loving him during our visits:

That second picture's not working for me, but I can tell how different he looks from the last pictures you posted - much healthier.
The music is a great idea, both for its meaning to you, and also so he has something extra that's familiar when he gets to his new home.
Roll on Friday!

Oh, wonderful! Love has that effect, even on the most lost Once he gets home, and settles in, he'll be able to totally enjoy having a wonderful new home and family

I didn't notice his red tail in the previous pictures! That's a sharp dash of color for him!

Spud is still sniffling but is doing better..again. The new addition comes home in the morning and we decided on a legitimate name that fits him. My daughters stated that because "Pete" has a deformed foot/leg and because of him being emotionally lost, we should name him Nemo from Finding Nemo. So his name will be Nemo.
The process was so exhausting and when the visit is done tomorrow, and Nemo is in his cage to settle in, I am going to just hang out with the family and him in the same room and watch movies. Thank you, everyone, for the utmost support.
Yes, he is a very pretty man bird lol. And already very well loved and spoiled. My house is now a zoo.

I'm glad Spud is on the mend, and how exciting that the big day is nearly here and Nemo will soon be home.
That's a great plan to hang out in the same room but leave him be - I hope it helps him settle in. I'm sure you won't mind one bit if he starts talking over the movie though!

I think Nemo is a great name, for the reasons listed. Since your daughter named him, he's definitely a family member I've always felt most at home in other people's family zoos, without snakes, no snakes

For a boy that's almost 20 years old and not a very mind life, he's come a long ways. I'm now able to pet his beak lol. He's doing great now with a lot of huge miles stones being jumped. His flying is becoming better and more controlled, and he's slowly coming out of his shell to show us his personality. Nemo is a naughty buggard and has the vocabulary of a drunk Marine. We can now have him step up without growling or biting. And he's learning how to play for the first time in his life. Sad I have to teach him.. But we are all doing well and enjoying each other.

Aww it sounds like he's settled right in and that you're enjoying getting to know him and helping him with his behavioural issues. I'm sure he's a far happier chappy already.
Hope you can improve his vocabulary haha!
