Hi there......my daughters became the proud owners of 2 eight wk old bonded females last wk...Billie and Blossom....and as we are new to piggies have been researching as much as possible to try to get it right!🙂 All has been well....eating well...nuggets/ hay...the odd treat of cucumber/ red pepper Water bowl down and a water bottle up...all good!! Then this morning my daughter noticed Blossom had a sticky light yellow gloop stuck to her rear It didn't stop her eating or playing normally ....and fell off in the hay which my girls cleaned out and all was well but can I ask you knowledgeable ones if you might know what it is? Thanks 😊

Hello and welcome to Wheekers It could be a mucus plug, which would mean your girl is in heat. This can happen as early as 2 months old, so is a possibility. If she's in heat, it lasts about 8 hours, and should happen about every 16 days, so check again around then. If you haven't verified the sex of the pigs, it could also be that one is male, and it's boar glue. Worth getting the sexes verified, if you haven't already It's always good to get well-pig vet checks so you and the vet have a baseline of information, should the pig get sick. The vet should be able to verify their sex, check for any abnormalities, etc. Since it's only a well-pig check, it shouldn't be too expensive, and it gives you a chance to get to know the vet. Good guinea pig vets are hard to find, so a good one is really valuable
