As a child, I always enjoyed watching aquariums- I think it was the aerator bubbling that gave me a relaxing sensation. Ours has only two fish currently, and one tends to hide, so it's not a terribly active place- so I don't hang out there as much as I'd like.
I did make great use of my time last weekend- I started cleaning out a few piles of old junk that I knew I'd never need again. Shredded some bank statements that were years old, rearranged some shelves in my storage area, and although the changes are subtle, I like my progress. I'll be doing a bit more of this here and there over the week.

I wonder if your wife and daughter expected you might have wild times with them out of the way, but just got back to tidier shelves?! I'd be going away all the time if my husband did that.
Glad you had a fun housewarming, Amber. I've never had a raclette, it sounds really good. But sorry you were let down by one of your countrymates - hope the police can make use of the information.

Baz, I think aquariums are peaceful with the aerator bubbling and the plastic plant life swaying. It's fun to look for the fish, but I agree with the relaxation aspect. After you mentioned Stilgar liking the aquarium, I wondered if the guinea girls enjoyed Aquatic Life, or if they missed it completely. I'd love to get another aquarium, but I can't take care of one, so Aquatic Life it is I wish we didn't have to hold onto receipts for 7 years. They all go into a big bag at the end of each year, and get stored and forgotten. When we die, daughter will probably find 20 years of recept bags to shred. Ooh, glad I won't be around to hear her response to that! It's good that you're cleaning out stuff you haven't used, instead of waiting another 20 years as we have, which means we have 20 years more stuff I'm going to have hubby get down some boxes in the closet. I know there are some antique linens in them, but I've never used them. I've always just held on to them because they were important to my mother. Family heirlooms, but so far out of trend I doubt they're much good for anything except holding onto. There's a charity store called Corey's Closet. Corey is a special needs boy, and the store raises money for his care. His parents own and operate it. I think it's time to do a major clean out of anything anyone else might want, and take a trip to Corey's Closet. While Good Will helps the poor, and they probably take more types of items than the Closet takes, I like the idea of knowing my donations are helping an actual person, and not going to just anyone. A friend and I went on a shopping spree at the Concord Good Will, and we could afford to shop at regular shops, so I really don't know who's getting the donations, and if they really need them. Time to stop being the holder of all the family stuff, and passing it on to someone who might actually use it.

Bean, I'm only cleaning up MY stuff! My wife can take care of her own mess. 3piggles , I find every once in a while I get some time and want to organize my area, which includes everywhere I work or sit. I'm throwing out old newspaper articles that are no longer relevant, some drawings I did when I was ten (they're terrible) and other odds & ends that I know I don't need. I threw out most of my audio cassette collection, aside from a handful of store-bought ones that have sentimental value. (I still have the CDs I made them from, but no longer need the tapes!) Funny thing about the newspaper articles- one is a small magazine from the Chicago Tribune about astronomy. The date is from 1981, so is out of date... but what I found hilarious is all the full-page cigarette ads! I forgot how prevalent those were a few decades ago. Oh, and I forgot to mention it, but ten days ago was my anniversary for joining Wheekers 7 years ago!

Oh, happy anniversary - thanks for sticking with us! Hope the 7 year itch won't apply here?!
3piggles, I definitely think this is going to be the year for your big liberating sort out - stopping holding onto things because they meant something to someone else some decades ago! You know exactly what you like, anything else can get moved onto another home!

Oh, happy anniversary Baz!
There have been some nice sunny days in Copenhagen this week. I stayed home, since my account & credentials are suspended, and took full advantage of our balcony. I even managed to get a faint tan haha!

Happy 7th Anniversary, Baz. Really glad you joined I'd say you're taking the loss of credentials very well, Amber It is nice to have time to just relax, soak up some sun, and regenerate Bean, I think you're right. I'm feeling a lot less attached to old things, especially things I kept because they were important to my mother. I want less clutter, and if I'm going to clutter, it's going to be things I'm using. Going to take a while, but I have time Lots of thunder, lightening and rain for a few hours last night. Everything was clean this morning Still humid, but a few percentage points lower than yesterday. I'm hoping the Dew Point keeps falling, even if slowly. Wow! I just went to the Housing thread, and my Piggy Paradise is there!!! My closet cage is, too. One of the best set ups every I thought the Piggy Paradise cage pictures were gone forever. Now to get them off here, onto my computer, and back onto here before Photobucket closes my account!

We're due 38c (100f) here next week - in England, up north! I don't think this has ever happened in my lifetime. We could really use some rain, it's been hot (or at least warm) and dry for weeks now.
Glad you got some downtime, Amber - hope your body hasn't gone into shock!

Holy cannoli that's hot! We won't be far behind you, but that's normal for us. I hope you manage without too much trouble. I put water in the bathtub and periodically soak my feet in it and give myself a sponge bath. I think I'll be doing that a lot over the next week or so! That and jumping in the shower quickly. Warm/cool water to cool me down and refresh me

I've bought a fan so I can get some sleep! They're talking about highs of 40c now. Our infrastructure just isn't designed for temperatures like this, so there's lots of tension around transport and power. Many schools are finishing earlier in the day (and moving online) to miss the afternoon build up of heat indoors (which can be rather stifling with the summer temperatures we usually get).

No global warming there! Even we don't usually get 40C. We sometimes get Feels Like 40C, but not the actual temperature. The dew point is up to us bouncing around between 65 and 67%, so we're in the about-to-get-uncomfortable stage. Humidity moving in tomorrow PM, hopefully not until the NASCAR race ends at Loudon, as it gets miserable in the metal stands when it's hot, and even more miserable when it's hot and humid. We have a lot of 90+ degree days in the next 10, so I figure typical summer has arrived. I know you don't usually get such hot temps. Have the meteorologists said why you're getting it? I'm just keeping all digits crossed for a front down from Montreal, so we can get a break.
Glad you got a fan to help with the heat. It's hard when you rarely get those temps. You don't have the cooling things you would have if you got that weather all the time. I hope it gives you some good sleep.
