November already! I spent about 45 minutes after work raking leaves in a T-shirt, it was so nice. Too bad there are two more trees in my yard that haven't lost their leaves yet, but at least I'm cleaning up some of the work in advance.

Good work! I meant with starting the thread, but also with the leaf raking!
I did a little raking the other day, as I'd had to spend quite a while on the computer, and needed a quick boost of movement. But usually I just mow the lawn and let that pick them all up for me. We're at a similar point of being about halfway through all the leaves dropping.

It got as high as 75 degrees Fahrenheit today! I recall a few years ago we had snow on Halloween! I rather hope there's not too much snow this winter. I drive on the highway now for work and dislike the idea of hazardous conditions at high speeds.

We've dropped down to a max of about 11c (52f) so the woollies and thick coats have come out.
It's Bonfire Night coming up this weekend, so usually a weekend with loads of organised bonfires and firework displays. But many councils have cancelled them all, as they can't justify spending so much on entertainment when vital services are struggling with all the budget cuts and price increases. Some people understand, some are up in arms about it. It'll be interesting to see if lots more people organise their own instead - I expect the fire service will be in for a busy night if they do.

We're getting your weather, Baz. It's 70F outside, though it was 30F this morning. Not even supposed to get much below 50F overnight, and by Monday we could be wearing bathing suits, lol Then the temp drops, again, and we're back to below freezing mornings. Bean, since we're a good 20 years older than you, hubby has an electric lawnmower that mulches and sucks up the leaves into a container. Then he empties the container into the wheelbarrow, and when he's filled the barrow, takes it down to the pit to dump in one of the compost areas. It does such a great job compared to raking. He needs to get in the backyard with it, and suck up the pine needles and bird seed casings. The squirrels broke the umbrella over the flat feeders, but it's only drooping on one side, and that doesn't seem to stop the birds any. Not worried about it. The idea was to put something over the flat feeders to keep the snow from burying the seed. It does that really well, even with a drooping side

Most of our lawnmowers work that way over here, so I usually go for the easy option with leaf clearing, even though I'm not 70! I used to get the kids to do it as they loved making and playing in piles of leaves, but apparently that doesn't quite have the same appeal for teenagers!

Nope! They reach an age when you have to pay them more to rake and bag leaves than they'd earn doing something else In some ways it's great, because the learn the value of working, but it's also them expecting you to pay them to do what they ought to do just because they're part of the family. I'm all for machines that do it all. They also don't throw hissy fits or lose track of what they're doing and start another project, lol
