NICE Very festive We saw you were getting really cold temps over there. Our freezing is 32F, and you were below that. Some parts of the country got snow, too. A friend in Cambridgeshire (not sure what town), got snow. She posted pictures on Facebook Don't know if it will last long enough for a white Christmas. We have a mixed bag storm coming in from the midwest (thanks so much, Baz ) The weather map show us getting 3-6" of snow. The hourly timeline on the local news station shows us getting mostly rain, so no idea what we'll get. Should be an interesting walk tomorrow morning, and Saturday morning, if we get a lot of sleet and yuck! We're getting set up for it, anyway. Hubby got some sand from the pit, in case we have a lot more icy patches in the driveway, and made sure the snow blower started. I have a friend who's a dispatcher with the state police, and I'm sure she'll have a really busy couple of nights!

Well, we're getting a portion of that over here- it's currently sleeting, and not overly pleasant outside. I hope driving isn't too bad tonight- my daughter is out at volleyball practice. She's a careful driver to begin with, but has no experience with hazardous conditions.

We got about 3" of snow before it turned to rain. Now, I think it's a mix of rain/snow. Not sure. Hubby got the driveway and walks cleared, then did two of the neighbors drives. He may do the lady next door, whose son plows her out when he gets a chance. He's in Vermont, so not going to get a chance any time soon. She paid hub $30 for doing her driveway, so a little extra money when it snows. Lower down in Ohio the sun broke through today, so there is a back end to this storm

Happy Hanukkah 🤗 I made Sufganiyot for the first time. It's an Israeli filled donut, and a Hanukkah favorite. It's not difficult, but wading through it all for the first time was a bit daunting. Ours are filled with natural fruit jams OR chocolate butter cream. I love Dunkin Donuts chocolate cream filled donuts, which are rarely ever available at the stores. I probably haven't had one in 30-40 years. So I looked up the chocolate cream recipe online, and made my own 🤗 I included the biscuit cutter I used, and the donut cutter. They're part of a set of tin cutters from the late 1800s, and have been in my mother's family and used all that time. I posted the picture on Facebook, and tagged my cousin, who is very interested in the old family things.

They look great, how were they? Here's my little festive friend - he was so tame, as robins can be, and didn't even flinch at us sitting about a foot from him and watching him.

The donuts were really good. I had one recipe that put all ingredients in a zipper bag, shake it to mix, and let it rise in warm water for an hour. That's the one we used, and it worked out well. Next year I'll try one of the more conventional 'rise in a bowl in a warm place' recipes, and see if there's much difference. The funny part was us trying to fill the donuts. We had the bottled jams we wanted to use, but it was hard getting them through the filler. I finally figured out they needed to be a bit thinner, and that worked fabulously. Not bad for our first try, and since we can fill them with anything, we can expand on our fillings next year
