Here we are in February already. I'd be happy about it if my situation were not identical to January, December, November... you get the idea.

We are, aren't we Today is our last decent day for a couple of days. Tomorrow starts off cold and gets colder. By Saturday morning we'll have windchill as low as -45F We went shopping to get birdseed and the last things we needed to eat, so we can stay home until at least Sunday, if not Monday. I think Sunday is supposed to start off at 0F, but will get warmer as the day progresses. The deep freeze across the southern US was on the news, with vehicles just sliding around on ice. I have no idea if it's killed any major crops, but the south isn't used to that level of freezing of cold. I filled the cars gas tank, and probably won't even try to start it during the deep freeze. We can just stay home Happy February, everyone

Our nights are in the single digits, but by day it gets into the 30's, so I won't complain. Given that we have about two more months of cold weather, I'll take it over having five months if this had all started by late October.

Thanks for starting the thread, Baz, and here's to February having some good surprises for you!
I've just seen the weather forecast, and apparently today is going to be almost spring-like, before the cold weather moves back in. From the sound of the wind at the moment, I'm not quite convinced it'll be so nice out there, but we'll see!

It's almost 2 p.m., and the temp is up to 4F, with a wind chill of -2F. Two ridiculously cold days to be followed by a week of days in the 30s and 40sF, and nights probably in the 20s and teens. No problem. The heat has run almost constantly. We have ice on the inside of the front door jam and side door jam. There's ice on the inside of all the windows that has finally melted thanks to a bright, sunny day. The poor back yard gang has decimated the seed I've put out for the last 3 days, and I'm sure they'll be happy to not need to eat that much, and just be a whole lot warmer. We haven't hoofed the hood in over a month. Between the snow storms and bitter cold patches, then hubby having his mini stroke, it's been a long time. I hope to get out to walk Monday morning, when it should be in the plus digits. Tomorrow is supposed to be 0F, which is still too cold for me. By the time I'm totally bundled up against that cold, my glasses are so steamed up, I can't see where I'm going. The guy we always wave to in the morning came down to check on hubby when hubby got home from the hospital, and said he missed seeing us every morning I'm happy to say none of our pipes froze, and the car started every time I tried it, so we've weathered the cold snap pretty well

Must be nice to be coming out the other side without any major issues. Hope you can get your walk in on Monday, and that it's not too long before your husband can start joining you again too.

It's 43F outside. Yes, I said 43F! Happy dance in progress So much nicer than having to bundle up in 15 layers of clothing to not freeze, and having it all result in my glasses fogging so I couldn't see anything. I love cold weather, but bitter cold is only good for stats. Oh, a ladder fire truck froze with the ladder fully extended while the fire fighters were fighting a multi-unit house fire. Two fire fighters were injured slipping on the ice created by all the water and the sub-zero temps. I'm heading outside in a little while to see if I can move the snow blower, which was frozen to the deck. Not a good time to be fighting fires with water. It must have run down streets and frozen all along the way It's melted, now

Crikey, that sounds so challenging for the fire service. I'm glad things are milder now, it sounds like everyone could use a break from the weather. Enjoy your walking!

It's almost 50 degrees here, too- lots of melting snow, and it almost feels like a heatwave!

Not supposed to get quite that warm here, but warm enough to be outside doing things

I'm not going to change the banner just for today, but wanted the loved up pigs to get their outing! I'd forgotten it was Valentine's Day (it's not really my thing, way too commercialised) until I was at a shop yesterday, and saw loads of men walking round clutching big bouquets of red roses!

We bought each other the same huge heart box of candy, one box total, because I love the cream fillings, nougats and caramels, and he loves any type of nut chocolate. It's way bigger than we need, so instead of getting a sugar coma, I've put the box over the fridge, and we have to get it down, get a couple of choccies, and put it back. It's big enough it might last until next Valentine's Day, lol (Not likely ) I think most holidays have become commercial pushes to sell us products, but since we both love the candy, and we only buy these once a year, we'll splurge

Oh that's an idea, we could use it as an excuse to have an annual box of chocolates from Chocolate Utopia to share!
