Rolling towards spring is pleasing me, and I'm enjoying having more hours of daylight.
I hope March will bring good things for us all!

Ah, yes. Another month gone. I can't believe how quickly this year is going. I'm loving the extra daylight hours, too I'm still up before dawn, but I don't always finish hoofing the hood before the sky is light enough to not need my headlight. We're getting storm after storm, though this last one only left a trace of snow. The snow changed to rain, which left slush everywhere. I started out on the walk this morning. Got to the driveway, slid all over the place and went back inside. I wasn't going to risk falling, and especially not in slush. I'd have been a soaked mess. We have 6-12" of snow coming in tomorrow night through Saturday morning, so that will be a plowable amount. Vic will be out with his snowblower more than once, as it's supposed to be heavy snow. Snowblowers have trouble throwing heavy, wet snow, so the clearing has to be done in stages. At least he's earning some good money Next week looks pretty clear, at least for now

We were expected to get 3-5 inches of snow today. I went grocery shopping yesterday so I wouldn't have to make a trip after work in a blizzard. No snow until about 4:00, where it started coming down for about 5 minutes, then abruptly stopped. Got the ground wet at best. I'm not complaining, mind you- this is nice not to have to deal with it.

I agree. We've been threatened with some snow this week, but we'll see if it materialises.
3piggles, do your neighbours tend to want to clear the snow, even if they don't plan to go out? I have a couple of neighbours who always clear their paths etc as soon as there's snow, but aside from doing that, they'll generally stay in until it clears anyway. Maybe it's a generational thing. We tend to not get round to doing things like that, and then find it thaws before we need to anyway!

We got about 7l.5" all together, with an inch coming after Vic cleared the snow for the last time, yesterday. Supposed to be warm today, so that dusting - inch will melt quickly.
When we all clear the snow depends on the type of snow and how much we're supposed to get. The snow we got yesterday was wet snow, which meant if we didn't start clearing it when we had about 4-6 inches, it would turn to concrete and be impossible to clear with a snowblower. Everyone got out around 8 a.m. yesterday morning to do the first clearing. If we waited, and we got the full 14", it would also have been hard to move with a snowblower, and it was heavy enough that no one wanted to shovel, if they didn't have to.
If we're only getting a few inches of any type of snow, we'll wait until the snow stops, then clear. If we get lite, fluffy snow, we wait until the snow stops, because anything we clear is going to be covered with snow again because the wind blows it around.
So we all clear snow at the same times for the same reasons. The sisters across the street waited until the snow was almost done to do their second clearing, and it was obvious they were struggling with the weight of the snow. When you live where it snows for months of the year, we learn when we need to clear it, how much we can let build up before we clear it, etc. It doesn't help to have to get out of the driveway to go someplace like work, but since it was a Saturday, no one in the hood had to be anywhere they couldn't cancel. We had a tax appointment at 2 p.m., and they canceled. Vic's going in on Monday to sign the papers. We forgot to include one of our deductibles when we did our taxes, so that's all done and ready to be filed. Not sure how much we owe this year, but we have a month to pay it.

It rained and misted yesterday, and everything froze over. I visited my buddy Ken and walking to my car was a slippery proposition. Got home without issues.
Speaking of Ken, he informed me that some of the software I use has been tagged as dangerous for malware and spyware and should be deleted. I know you ladies don't use this software, but ClipGrab and Insta360 Studio are the culprits.) There are safer alternatives, all I need is to figure out what they are and how to use them. I think my editing software can even handle some of these issues, so I'm spending my Sunday researching this. (Like I needed another thing on my plate, but it could be worse.)

Glad you got home without incident. Everything is back to normal, here. I hoofed the hood this morning, and the roads were clear and dry.
Also glad you found out about the software. Those problems can bite you badly, and usually when it's the last thing you can handle. Good that Ken is up on this through his company. I hope most of what those packages did can be done with your newer software.

I found an alternative to ClipGrab- I really just need software to download music from YouTube that isn't available anywhere else. Some stuff is rare and never made it to CD, so people upload it from vinyl and that's my only option if I want to hear obscure gems.
The other program is an issue- I use it for my 360 footage, and although there are claims that my DaVinci Resolve program can handle the 360 footage, every single video I watch tells me that the first thing I need to do is export the footage into a format Resolve can handle out of the program that I'm trying to replace!
This is no good- I need to bypass the program or find an alternative. If I still need to use it, there's no point in replacing it!

Blimey, it seems like one thing after another at the moment. Thanks for the heads up on the software - I don't use them but won't now either! Ken sounds like a great friend to have around.
3piggles, about 12 years ago we had a winter that sounds a lot like yours - our country couldn't cope with it at all! Sounds like you're all well-practised. But roll on spring!

We haven't gotten anything we aren't prepared for, but San Bernadino County, CA has gotten over 8 feet of snow, with another possible 5-6' forecasted for the next few days. Roofs have collapsed in some places, and there's nothing anyone can do. There's no place to go until the roads are all cleared. The poor road clearers, while earning a fortune with all the overtime they're working, must feel as if they're barely making a dent in all that snow. The sheriff's department is delivering food and necessities to homes all over the county, and I'm sure there are some medical emergencies that have posed a lot of logistical problems for them.
The Blizzard of '78 was our big one, and we survived that just fine. It's kind of a New England thing to just buck up and get the job done, though news reporters seem to be able to find the people who always complain about the snow and the cold. Sigh, New England has been this way for eons. Move if you don't like it. I have trouble with the heatwaves, which we've also always had, but they don't usually last all summer. They are 3-4 day miserableness, before getting back to just plain too hot.
The generator makes a huge difference, as we get a lot of thunder storms during the heatwaves, and I'm sure many of the people in San Bernadino County are without power. I feel really badly for them. Yes, it's an expense, but it's totally worth it at our age. We're just passed being able to rough it very well.

Crikey, California's had a really rough time weather-wise recently, hasn't it? It's not long since all the flooding.
Over here, the weather's just something to talk about, so I think often people just like a change so they can make conversation about it!

Orange County, California had years of drought at one point. I can't remember how long ago that was. Southern California has months/years of drought that cause the wildfires, followed by torrential rains that wash down all the hillsides without any vegetation left, and cause major mudslides. My sister said they use snow plows to plow the mud, rocks and debris off the roads after mudslides. I think all those plows have been pressed into service in San Bernadino County. California is supposed to be paradise. I'm not so sure about that!

Our clocks have gone forward overnight. Hopefully I'll adapt quickly, but I had the sort of Saturday night that would have made me appreciate gaining an hour a lot more!

I don't mind the gaining an hour, but losing one is hard. I didn't have any trouble. I get up when the grow lights come on in the morning, so even though 5 a.m. was what was 4 a.m. the day before, I still did okay. I missed walking in the daylight at 5-6 a.m., though, and will be glad when the sunrises catch up, again. I was thinking about how dark it is that early in the morning, and with every house having a front yard light that's on, and many of them having motion sensor lights, there are only a couple of dark places, even that early in the morning. It's really a very safe place to walk in the dark, as long as I stay on the pavement. I do love the headlight Vic got me. I can really see where I'm going and what's around me, no matter how dark it is.
The kids probably aren't thrilled to lose an hour of sleep. I know I never was at that age.
