OK, its good news. Andy has seen various pages and internet links and likes the C&C cages and thinks it would be good for our girls. Id like to try and get it all sorted this weekend if possible. Izzy pointed out before that C&C grids are now available in Argos (page 768 no 5). Please can someone who has C&C grids have a look and let me know if these are the same size as everyone elses. For those of you outside the UK, Argos is a huge catalogue store with shops all over, you just go in and everything is housed in a warehouse at the back! This is the link for the grids in Argos www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8759384.htmThanks ever so much.

Each grid I've got is 35cm x 35cm, so allowing for the connector the width would be about 37cm which is what the Argos listing says The grids I've got are all different colours but I like the silver one's you've got Jackie - much more sophisticated lol ! www.diddly-di.fsnet.co.uk/piggy-care-my-housing.htmHappy building ! Can't wait to see it when it's done

Do you have a yellow pages anna? if you look under 'sign makers' . You know the 'for sale' signs that you see in gardens, well they are usually made out of correx. If you make sure you ask for corrugated correx. When I first asked, I mentioned coroplaste and they hadn't heard of it, but as soon as I mentioned correx, they knew straight away. They usually come in sheets of 8 feet by 4 feet and may come in different colours. I had to order mine, but some have them in stock already. Good luck, I hope you find some

Thanks for the replies. The cage is OFF. Andy wont let me have one. He says that they look tacky. Apologies to all of you that have them. Apparently it doesnt look right because it will be in our living room. He has now said that he will make me one along the lines of the ones on Treen's website. A wooden outer with wire mesh insidey bits. But you know what men are like and if these girls see the cage it will be a miracle! Most probably I'll be 40 before that happens. Once again thanks for your help. I hate it when one moment you are allowed something and the next you are not. Im now not looking forward to this weekend. I was getting really really excited but now it all feels rather flat.

Well its not all that bad now. I think Andy realised he had really upset me and disappointed me/cheesed me off he went downstairs and started to work on one. Basically its going to be like Splattie's one now. Except that he's going to do it out of either a) a wood effect coloured wood (ie wood covered in plasticy/melmaine stuff), or black. I can see his point about the C&C cage because it is right in the middle of the lounge/dining room. Hopefully we will be going to B&Q later today to buy the wood etc, but the base he will get from work free of charge. We are also going to line the bottom with lino and it will be frame along the front edge with wire messing to keep the girls in. We are just trying to incorporate a thing for Woody to be with the girls like he is now because they all get on so well and he's constantly in their cage looking for them!

Morning Anna, I'm sorry he's still holding out against the C&C cage, I know how much you wanted it.
Get Andy to think about a clear perspex / glass window in the front of the pen, it can easily slot in and be removed for cleaning [or you can take it out and use it as a 'door' for floortime if Andy doesn't make a front door], it keeps the bedding & hay in and keeps out draughts, go for wheels on the bottom of the pen too so you can wheel them around to hoover up underneath etc
Splattie can't wait to see what he comes up with -unless he changes his mind again lol

ooh anna, I just thought, out of interest this is how we attach the water bottle - we got this clip from Focus, it was years ago so I don't know if they still do them, but other shops probably do similar things: Kathy, I got service unavailable from that link when I just tried it

From Wheekies sophisticated to Andy's Tacky lol Don't worry anna, I won't mention it to the piggies. Aww sorry things didn't go as planned and I hope you get something your happy with. That is a nice cage Kathy It worked for me after the third try Wheekies. It looks like Teresa needs a bigger server doesn't it as Cavy Cages must be so popular.

Wow, thanks for all the researching you are all doing for me. Im just getting Andy up to have a look at the computer. Im pleased to say that this morning in B&Q we bought the side panels - they're called Honey Pine!!! It was really sweet actually. I told him to go and get a trolley as I was fed up with holding on to the No 27 for our new front door and a new coat hook plaque. He said well go back down the aisle and choose which colour board you want. I went down and read all of the names and as soon as I found Honey Pine I stopped in front of it. I thought it was a fab name as Honey pines when she wants her hugs or food! Shame there wasnt something called Taz pine! Anyway, we got two strips of it and went over the cutting bloke who trimmed off 2ft so it would fit in the car. Andy is making the cage between 5ft-6ft long and 2ft wide. That way, no-one will trip/get caught on where it is in the dining room. Thanks for the idea of the perspex and also the water clip. Im still waiting for him to come upstairs and look!

OK, he's laying down on the floor of the computer room, having had a look at the cavycages website and Wheekies pictures! Obviously the whole thing is too much for his brain and that is why he's flaked out on the floor!!! He says... the perspex is a good idea
as for the door, our girls currently have a ramp and he is going to make a new one
he is rubbing his head and his stomach laying on the floor with a huge headache thinking about wheels! wish me luck!!

heehee poor andy ! bet he wishes he'd gone with the C&C i'm so excited to see, i think you should take progress pictures, especially of andy looking confuddled !!! how high are you making it ? don't make it too high or it might seem a bit narrow at 2ft wide, if you see what i mean ? aww honey pine ! lol clover "From Wheekies sophisticated to Andy's Tacky lol Don't worry anna, I won't mention it to the piggies." I bet it was my red & yellow ones that put him off i bet in your sophisticated silver with black correx it could look quite manly !

well I could take a pic of the wood laying in the back bedroom!
their current cage is actually under 2ft wide, so they will feel the benefit!
The height is going to be 1ft tall.
