Hey all, just wondering what breed my piggies are! (Not the abbys, I know what they are. ) I've been calling Butterscotch a dutch, but is she really? And what is Clover? And does a crested guinea pig have to be one solid color to be called a crested? Lol, sorry for the 20 questions, but I'm just curious! You can look at my 'new pictures' thread to see some pictures of the pigs in question, or I'll post some more here if you want. Thanks if anybody can help me! ;D

Thats what I thought, but if you look at her back the colors aren't solid. Doesn't matter really, she's still adorable, but I'm just curious, lol.

aww, she IS adorable!! I also like clover's coloring, i find gray animals to be especially cute! I can't tell, but does she have a little crest on her head, or is it just a bad hair day lol..? i have never heard of dutch.. i would have called her an american smoothhair! I thought i had an american smooth(romeo) but maybe not... i also have an english crested(Hamlet), but that isn't realyl relevant, i just like talking about them! ;D;) I also like clover's coloring, i find gray animals to be especially cute! ~K~<3

Clover doesn't have a crest, that picture just makes her look all fuzzy. She has a blaze and a white stripe on either side of her stomach. Mismarked Dutch sounds about right for Butterscotch, lol. She probably had one dutch parent and one parent something else, I don't know. Tigger is an American Crested, which is SO cute! Miss Piggy, Patches, Mocha, Autumn and Ember are abbys... Midnight's a mutt, I think. She has rosettes like an abby, but only on her butt and one on the top of her head that makes it go forward, lol. That kind of reminds me of a peruvian, but she's not long haired.

sounds like Midnight is an abby cross, she has some of the characteristics of an abby but not all the rosettes ... I have a couple like that too

ya, that's what I thought. breeds are weird though, lol. tigger is a crested, and both his parents were abbys!

yeah, that's because they haven't come from pure lines, they have been crossed in their family history and that's why you get the different breeds in the litters.
I had a smooth coat give birth to an abby, a smooth coat, a dutch and a ridgeback ...

mismarked dutch, or bi-coloured. dutches (the true ones) must be even marked all over and have white front paws and the coloured back ones
