I was at PetSmart the other day, getting things other than piggies (I take someone with me to prevent me from giving in), and I found a really good book on piggies. It's by Animal Planet, is hard cover, and was in the book and magazine rack by the piggies.
It's the first book I've read that covers toys you should not get for you piggy, such as wheels and balls to run in. It also addresses C&C cages, explaining what they are and how they can be made to fit any area, for much less than a store bought cage of the same or lesser size. They also mention not putting Vitamin C drops in the pig's water, as it makes the water taste funny without giving the piggy any benefit. They suggest Vitamin C tables if the vet recommends C for a piggy.
I didn't check the price, but if I had to recommend a starter piggy book, this would be at the top of my list. None of the books is perfect, but this one comes pretty close.

Sounds like a great book! They did touch on all "our hot topics" didn't they? I think I know the book you are talking about too. I also have seen it in there and have stopped to read through it. I think it would be a great Christmas present for a new piggy person to receive! Thanks for sharing!

So often piggy books have lots of great pics, but that's about it. I found one other book I mentioned on another cavy site. I'll have to find that thread and mention it here. You're right, they hit on our pet topics. They even hit on the problems with breeding. They mention GuineaLinks(sp), and other information sites, too.

Thanks for sharing this - sounds amazing! I've never heard of or seen a guinea pig book that actually mentions C&C cages before. Word must be spreading.
