He's an old man, Bazookagoof, at least 6, so I'm always happy to see him looking really aware. He also has two young ladies to protect, to I think that helps

The piggy room is the basement family room, so it is the coolest room in the house all summer and all winter. To keep the pigs warm, and just for fun during the cold months, I dump a section of fleece in the cage, and let the pigs play over, under and around it. It's been a major hit for all the pigs, and since today is cold and rainy, it was a great day to let them play in the fleece. The girls were so funny, because we got them a couple of months ago, on one of the hottest days of the year. They saw the fleece coming over them, and just stared at it in awe It's been bouncing all around the cage with three piggies under it at different times, so two more pigs have learned the joy of a pile of fleece

Killing frost overnight tonight, so the fleece pads I had on the grid houses have been folded down to make snuggly houses, and I'll put a fleece over their cardboard box house tonight, so they have more snuggly places. It shouldn't get too cold in the piggy room, but I like to make sure they're warm enough. I'm not starting the space heater yet, as once winter is really upon us, it runs for several months. The nice, cool, basement room is great for summer, but not so great for winter

Sounds like they will be nice and cosy with their extra fleece pads. The body heat of another pig is always great for keeping them warm too, even if they're not snugglers.
Saw a few people de-icing their windcreens this morning. Nice to see the sun though as it's been very dreary and cloudy for the last week or so. Even though we've had some relatively mild days, it's been so damp that none of the animals have been on the lawn - I can still pick them some grass though.

It was great to watch the piggies playing with the fleece piece over the cardboard house. The house was bouncing all around, and the fleece kept moving further and further back on the box I put the fleece back over the box before we went up to bed, and it was still there when I came down the next morning. They're enjoying having the added snuggliness overnight

I love to think of my piggies being snug at night, even though they live indoors it is getting much colder even here in Cornwall.

It was rainy and gloomy all morning, and the pigs just lay around sleeping, so I rearranged the cage completely. Out with the cardboard box house, in with some Ferret Funnel tubes. The grid houses went back in, as the bigger tubes kept rolling around. The girls are having a great time with the tubes in the main living area and in the kitchen area, and Morty has his two grid houses to play through or sleep. Since I changed the cage around, there has been a great deal of activity and endless conversation. This is a shot of the whole cage, using the panorama setting on my phone: Regular shots, I have to break up the cage into a series of shots, as I don't have a wide angle lense: Fun in the kitchen: Tubes and grid houses in the living area:

Looks fun - bet the long tunnel is a big hit, it would be with mine! Reminds me we need to rotate the entertainment in our cages soon, especially as the house is in so much chaos, they've been out less than usual lately. Bad Bean!

We've had to bring the pigs upstairs while there's work being done downstairs - they were so noisy last night, running round and chuntering - it sounded like they were having a party! (And those blooming water bottles clacking too!) I managed to sleep through it (I'm the lightest sleeper in the house) but I'm not giving them anything that'll get them even more excited until they're back downstairs!

I have the water bottle holders screwed to the side of the cage, so they can't thwack. I can still tell who's drinking when, as each makes a different sound. I doubt I could sleep with them in the bedroom, and I hope they don't cost you too much sleep! The tubes are still a big hit, so I'm going to leave this setup in Pigloo City for a while

So much for leaving that set up for a long time. Hubby cleaned the cage, and rearranged, again. The pigs like this set up even better Hello from the Pigloo City 3

We adopted Morty on June 1, 2010. Having this thread was the perfect way to go back through years of history with the piggies, and revisit so many passed piggies. It was also a way to revisit so many former members. Some are still friends on Facebook, but some I've lost contact with completely, and after reading so many great posts from them, I really missed them. I've really had some wonderful piggies and friends, over the years, and I'm really glad I had a great thread where I could keep the memories, and visit them from time to time. There have been so many great piggies and great members, over the years

I'm glad reading through your thread has given you a nice trip down memory lane - there's so much you forget if you don't record it in some way.
Sometimes if I'm on an old thread, I see posts from lapsed members and remember how many fantastic people we've had pass through over the decade or more the forum's been going. I wonder if they'd be surprised we were still here haha!

I find it sad that so many previous posting members members have drifted away. It is so tiresome how life keeps getting in the way of things like this.

It is sad not to see them posting regularly, but I don't think any them left because they didn't want to be here anymore. Some got married, divorced, went away to college, lost their job and had to give up their pigs, got pregnant, and many other reasons. They don't have time for guinea pigs or guinea pig forums, but that doesn't mean they won't ever be back. A whole lot of piggies have also passed through here, and reading back through the thread reminded me of all the piggies that were no longer with us. Some of our members are active on the Facebook Wheekers forum, so not gone, just unable to manage the time to be on the main forum very often. We've really had a great group of members and piggies, and I'm glad I got to spend time with them
